  • Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor
  • Asus Z87-A ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
  • G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
  • GeFore 8800 GTS 512 MB
This is a brand new custom build. Its only a few days old now and I just recently started playing CS:GO on it. Yesterday it was running quite smoothly. Today after about 45 - 60 mins it will BSOD.

All of my drivers are up to date and so is windows. I have attached SF_Diagnostic_Tool results.

Anyone who can help resolve this issue, it would be greatly appreciated. :D

It looks like a hardware failure. Specifically, L0 Cache write error in processor 4. This is often caused by heat. Check for dust build up on the CPU heatsink and fan. If it's clean, check the case fans for proper operation. You might also try running with case open and fan blowing into the case and see if the same BugCheck 0x124 continues to occur.

The last one is the same error (124).
I would check to make sure the heat sink is fully seated. L0 cache is right next to the cores and sensitive to heat. Also be sure there isn't TOO much heat sink compound and that it's spread evenly. Too much is worse than none.

Im afraid to take the heat sink off to make sure there is enough/ not to much thermal compound because I don't anymore, nor can i current get more. My Intel processor came with a fan pre-coated with thermal paste. All my temp gauges are under 90 degrees F. Ill try running CSGO with the case open, and a fan blowing inside.

Thanks for the help so far! :D I'll post updates soon.

I would at least check the mounting pins. The lower right (#4) may not be engaged. #1 and #2 is the CPU latch hinge side.

Still continued to happen.. If I leave the game open and running but minimized it runs fine for a while. Once I actually start playing the game it will blue screen. The last time it happened I didn't even get to see a blue screen it just locked up. I had to manually restart the PC.

Rerun the SF Utility and upload new files. Allow several minutes for the utility to completely gather all the files before zipping.

Also; If you are overclocking the GPU or CPU, STOP. Settings should be default.

I'm not familiar with Nvidia's control panel or whether you made any changes through it. Intel HD has buttons to set parameters to default values. Did you build your PC?

Everything defaulted. Nothing was ever overclocked.

I have attached the latest crash dump and pictures of my core temps w/usage %

The bigger one is idle and the smaller one is running CS:GO.

Sorry I couldn't get back sooner. My internet connection keeps dropping.

Still the same hardware error and you're still getting thermal trip events; just not at the same time. I hate to be the one to break the news but it looks like the processor may be faulty. You might try running HWiNFO64 as a temperature monitor to verify your temps. I find it to be pretty accurate on Intel processors. BUT... Don't run more than ONE monitor at a time! Other than that, the same cache error is occurring and the crash wasn't at the same time as the thermal event. If the thermal events were a regular occurrence, it may have damaged the processor.

Same error. I would consider seeking a RMA from the vendor for the processor. You can copy all the data from the "Code" lines to show the CPU is failing.

Code:
WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124)
A fatal hardware error has occurred. Parameter 1 identifies the type of error
source that reported the error. Parameter 2 holds the address of the
WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure that describes the error conditon.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000000, Machine Check Exception
Arg2: fffffa800e1cd028, Address of the WHEA_ERROR_RECORD structure.
Arg3: 00000000bf800000, High order 32-bits of the MCi_STATUS value.
Arg4: 0000000000000124, Low order 32-bits of the MCi_STATUS value.
