Solved BSOD playing games and recording

Done and bluescreen.

Updated the driver, couldn't make a backup due to a window handling error?

It took me a while longer to generate this blue screen, so I think we are progressing. Thanks so much man.

I used amd gaming evolved, recorded a little bit, turned it off, played ffxiii a couple hours later and crashed about 15 minutes in. Are these details important? I can omit them if they aren't helpful.

Used the first driver on the links you posted. I just thought that rosewill was the manufacturing website and that one from 2011 was the latest one so evidently I do not know anything about computers.

Double checked device manager to see if it was the 2015 one, and the atheros driver is installed.

Now let us check for the drivers. If any driver is passing bad information there to the memory, the same may happen.

Enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.

Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning

Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

• If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
• If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Forgot to make a system restore point and retry making back up

Computer crashes on restart, only options are startup repair, or launch Windows normally

Tried using a restore point crafted by Windows when I installed the new drivers. It restored some drivers and programs, but I got a error message.

Is there anything I can do from the command prompt?

If not I have another hard drive with just videos on that one, (i can format the second hard drive, I don't mind losing that data) I may be able to get Windows 8.1 on it.

At the very least I could recover my personal files doing this right? Would there be a way to change the driver verifier from there?

And under that is just other options which tells me to clean install or use a back up point which I don't have.

Hmm. You should not have missed that important step.

Anyway, as you are not reluctant to do a clean reinstall, you will not loss any data. Back up your data elsewhere, following http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/93347-copy-paste-windows-recovery-console.html and then you are ready for a clean reinstall.

I would rather have 7 than 8.

Also when I partition my drives, is it true that if I make as separate partition for the os, my computer will load faster?

How large the HDD is?

The OS should run bit better from a 100-200 GB partition than a 1 TB entire HDD.

I used to have a vast but then it really messed with battle.net client so I tried AVG then my system restores stopped working.

Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

That is the best free protection.

Back on track

I'm actually glad I got to clean install my system, as it seemed something was wrong with my registry.

I got a blue screen saying a driver was trying to free memory (?) I should've written it down, sorry. So does system restoring after the crashes save the dmp files?

Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

Let us see a BSOD in the normal situation at first, then if it is needed, we will definitely use verifier. But only in need ..... verifier is not for using abruptly.

I blue screened yesterday?

my computer restarted itself just now, not due to any update because it hasn't updated itself.

I checked for any dmp files, lo and behold, I had one made yesterday... I don't remember it though.

Uninstall the installed display driver using Display Driver Uninstaller. Then install the CCC 14.4 WHQL only.

Oh, so I guess the registry edit made it so I don't see the blue screen? and it creates the file yesterday as well? Because I just crashed again checked the dmp files, there was another, and it was made yesterday, but modified a little bit ago about when I crashed.
