BSOD playing games(COD BO2 & GW2), error 0x000000f4

Hello,

Lets start from the beginning:
My old hard drive got broken (stared making weird noises and random freezes of the system). so i swapped it out for a other one i was previously using for my Media center.

With installing i had some problems with a bad DVD which also "destroyed" my HDD. even with a USB install i kept getting errors if it even found my HDD. so i booted linux and wrote the whole disk with 0's.

After this the install went perfect. though i believe i sometimes had a hiccup nothing serious.

Now the problem:
I keep getting 0x000000f4 errors when i play games, in this case COD BO2. The time i get these is (for me) completely random, sometimes i can play 1 mission but 1 night i could play 3 after each other with no error.

What i have tried so far:

ran check disk: no errors found.
ran mem check: no errors found.
updated all my drivers to the latest.
switched my drive to a other sata slot.

All with no effect.

I also start checking my events. here i found some weird errors:

"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort4."

which came up several times.

Also previously when my DVD drive was connected it caused Windows to boot extremly slow. Now it is in my Sata 6gb slot and it is working fine again.

Can you guys help my, i really have no clue what to do next. I am afraid that it is in my MoBo or in my sata controller in the mobo.

Also i have a weird error: when i boot windows up it says the Ethernet cable is not connected. though when i look there are some lights blinking. but when i go to the adapters and disable and then enable it, it works fine again. though sometimes windows freezes when i disable it or the adapter simply disappears, but that doesn't happen that much.

I have no clue anymore what it could be, i hope you can help!

Asus P8P67 EVO (bios 2302)
Intel i7-2600K
ATI Radeon HD 5850
8GB Ram (2x 4gb)
1 TB seagate (don't know the exact model)

I am now wondering if it isn't my SPU that is failing me. It is a cheap one and i have it running for 2 years now. when i open my case i can hear a continuous high tone. could this mean my PSU is getting worse in supplying power?

also in my Asus AI tools it sometimes logged a abnormal voltage to the CPU (thought it only had a difference of 0.3 volt.

could this be related?

1. Update your SSD's Firmware (Skip it, if it is not a SSD)
2. Reseat the sata and power.
3. Run chkdsk /f/r, following the option two of the tutorial Disk Check
4. Seatool for dos: SeaTools | Seagate download
   Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.

Thanks for you reply, en first off sorry for my late response had a very busy week

I found that i didn't have a Seagate drive but a WD so i downloaded the equivilent from the WD site. (Data LifeGuard Diagnostics)
though i keep getting errors from it. with the quicktest i get a error with a code : 07.

With the extended test it said it found a few bad sectors and when i hit repair i got the same error.


After this i ran checkdisk, it found a few bad sectors and recoverd them. but so far no luck i'm still getting random BSOD.
Just now i got a BSOD with error code 03, i made another dump of it, see attachments.

Nope didn't work.

But it is getting worse, when i start Windows it almost instantly freezes.

I tried putting my HDD in a other sata port but then even my bios did not recognize it! I tried all of my sata 300 ports but only the 600 ports seem to work...

Tomorrow I will try my HDD in a other PC to check if it boots fine there, many there is something wrong with my motherboard.

Or what do you think what could be causing this?

The HDD is almost dead, as I can say. If it works in another machine, back all your important data up.

If the trick with CrystalDisc worked, it will give you some extra time, but as all the error counts are at the maximum level, sadly it failed.
