BSOD playing games, error 00000xf4

Games will have muffled static sound as it crashes to blue screen. Checkdisk doesn't detect anything.

Will occasionally blue screen while idle but crashes normally happen when playing a game.

Received STOP 0x7A almost an hour into the first Long Generic test. Tried it again without watching Hulu as the test was running and passed without any problems.

Received STOP 0x7A almost an hour into the first Long Generic test. Tried it again without watching Hulu as the test was running and passed without any problems.

7A confirms a disc error.

Do the test with Seatools for Windows.

I am sorry, I wanted to say "Seatools for DOS".

Restarted computer and booted Seatools for DOS from a CD but could not detect hard drive. Am I doing something wrong?

You need it, s yours is AHCI.

Passed both Short and Long Generic tests.

Now we should check the cabling and seating.

It would be good if you can dismantle the computer parts and re-seat it, specially the SATA cables, RAM, graphics cards etc.

Reseated the parts from motherboard and getting more of the same result. 0xf4 and ox7A errors actually seem more frequent and now i'm getting x074 BAD SYSTEM CONFIG when i try running checkdisk.

As a failing memory can cause any issue, and as we dont have anything to blame the discs, Test your RAM modules for possible errors.

How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
​

Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

If no error there, let us consider that it is only the file system on the disc that is corrupted. A full format of the disc will cure it. So back up your data, format the HDD in full and reinstall windows.

If still the SAME BSODS continue to occur, forget what the disc checks told. Get new disks.
