BSOD playing games on a 2 screen setup

Hey there!

I've been having problems with my Samsung RF-711S02 Notebook in the form of BSODs while playing various games. General activity before a crash is as follows: Playing a game on the main screen of the laptop and having a website etc open on my other screen. After a while, the comp starts heating up like mad and then I get a screen freeze that lasts for about a second, after which 2 seconds of normal runtime, then BSOD.

Okay took a look at the files you provided and there were three things that I noticed that may be causing the problem. First please uninstall Daemon tools then download and run this tool:

DuplexSecure - Downloads

When you run the tool if the uninstall box is grayed out then you are done and can close the window. If it is not grayed out click it and let the tool run. DO NOT click the install button it will install a driver known to cause BSODs.

Next please update your graphics card drivers they are rather old:

and lastly please check for updates to your Bios it too is rather old, updates can be found on the computer manufacturers website.

2 problems here:

A: I have not been able to find a single driver from the Samsung downloads site that would be newer than 2011, and the auto-detect on Nvidia's side gives me diddlysquat. Also, Windows claims that my graphics chip is actually Intel(R) HD Graphics Family chip, so heh. Any help on that?

B: Could not find a BIOS update from Samsung's site either.

I removed Daemontools, but what did it have to do with the problem?

Daemon tools can cause a lot of interesting problems, it is a very broken program, and although it is good for mounting ISO files the only other thing it is good for is causing blue screens. the reason Windows is telling you that your GPU is different is because it likely relies on the built in graphics chip until it needs more horse power to do things like play games. I poked around the drivers section on nvidia, and according to your Msinfo32 your GPU is the GTX 540M found this:NVIDIA DRIVERS 314.07WHQL it was released only a few days ago download and install it see if it helps things.

Right, so:

I tried to Install the 314.07 driver. All was good and dandy untill it prompted the restart. I restarted, but then the installer opened an earlier installer, 301.42. I tried installing 314 again, and it just kept going through the same loop.

Any advice?

EDIT: Also tried to contact Samsung support about updating drivers/BIOS, but no reply so far.

PLease run the system file checker:

SFC.EXE /SCANNOW
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the search box, right click on the cmd.exe and select "Run as adminstrator"
In the black window that opens, type "SFC.EXE /SCANNOW" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Let the program run and post back what it says when it's done.

then from the same window run the following and reboot:

chkdsk /r /f

No defragmentation issues found with the first one.

Running chkdsk through bootup now.

EDIT: chkdsk encountered no problems as far as I can tell. Is there a logfile I should sig up and share?
