Solved BSOD playing some games, usually 0x04e error

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to look at my thread!

I've been having problems with BSOD's while playing quite a variety of games (it will not happen immediately, or always, most of the time it will occur after ~30 minutes of play, and either result in the game crashing or the BSOD). I have run Memtest86+ with no errors, and a Hard disk check shows no problems with the S.M.A.R.T. information on my two drives. I reformatted and reinstalled windows after this started and the problem has not changed.

I have exhausted anything I can think of to fix this, so if someone has any ideas that would be very much appreciated! Thank you!

Welcome

Well actually 2 of your dumps out of 4 show memory corruption
How many passes did you run memtest for?
Please do it again overnight for 8 passes at least
:ar: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

If it still finds no errors please run the extended version of:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/715-memory-diagnostics-tool.html

The other two dumps do not indicate anything specific
Follow the tutorial below to repair Windows 7 System Files
:ar: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

Ps. You're not overclocking, are you?

Post back once you've done these

Is it possible that the memory errors are from the video memory, and if so, do these diagnostic tools analyze that memory?

The temperatures generally have sat within what the manufacturer says is acceptable (it has gone up to 80c, but apparently that is acceptable). I'll give a long test with memtest86+ tonight and let you know. Thank you!

The SFC Scan was clean. (And to answer your initial question, no, I am currently not overclocking the system, though a fair question considering I have the unlocked core)

I attempted to run the extended version of the memory diagnostics tool (the standard passed fine) and it hung at 10% for over an hour. Is that expected?

Well then, another blue screen, with a new error! 0x01a, being blamed on a failure of nvlddmkm.sys, which appears to be an NVIDIA driver. I will continue testing as I am able. I should have the results from memtest86+ tomorrow morning.

Your dumps show no definitive cause and some still show memory as the problem.

Anyway, start with SFC Scannow it will repair corrupted windows files and asks you to reboot when its done.
:ar: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

Follow the tutorial below to make sure your hard drive is not having any problems.
:ar: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html
You can also take hard drive test from your hard drives manufacturers website

By the way, could you lend ram like from your friend? Insert them to your pc and see how your computer performs?

Let me know

Both the Check Disk and SFC scans came back clean (I believe you asked me to do the SFC scan before but I have performed it again).

I will run memtest86+ overnight, and I might go out and buy some new RAM tomorrow to test (at the worst, I will just have more RAM :) )

I'd advice you to lend from a neighbor or friend first for a test on how stable your computer is, if you see that its stable then you will be sure that its your ram has problems.

Do you have a onboard graphics on your motherboard? If yes switch you can switch and see if your computer is crashing while using that way

Thanks & sorry if I ask too many random questions. I am new to debugging.

Now can you tell me if this is your motherboard ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS P8P67 PRO

Click on the specification tab, does your memory dim etc match with the ones given on that link?
Is your ram a complete 8 gb stick or 4+4? If its 4 each just insert one stick at a time and see how your computer performs (freezes, bsod, hangs).

Let me know

The RAM matches (I checked when I bought the board/RAM), they are in the correct slots, and it is 2x4 GB Pieces. Don't worry about asking to many questions, i'm happy to anwser them :)

I will try one slot at a time and see if that stops the hanging.
