BSOD playing Total War Rome II, error 0x00000101

Hi, ICit2lol.

Thanks so much for helping me discard a possible electrical malfunction. It´s a relief to know the PSU it´s working well.
If you have any suggestion or test you think I should run please do tell me.

Thanks again for your cooperation.

Arsene.

Yep they are ok I was going to ask about that pin 8 (grey) as that is the ok to power up the board and should be between 2.4 - 6v so no probs there.
No probs mate I think essenbe will get this sorted for you far better than I can but if I come up with anything else I'll let you know:)

arsene,With those settings, run prime and while prime is running show me a screenshot of CPUz and Core temp. I'm trying to figure out why your board will not run stock with default settings. You should be able to set optimized defaults in bios and it run well at stock voltage. Also, do you know how to reset CMOS if necessary? If not, it will be in your manual. Also, I would seriously consider getting a third party CPU cooler. The intel coolers are no good at all.

EDIT: In case you didn't notice, your ram is now running at 1600 instead of 1333 like it was before.

Hi Essenbe.

I performed the est, but after a minute or so I had to stop the tests because temperatures were raising above 85°C. I took a shot like you instructed and it´s uploaded in this post.

The test was runned under these conditions:

1.- Ai OC tuner= XMP
2.- Turbo ratio = 37.0
3.- CPU offset = 0.005

Thank you very much, essenbe.
Read you soon.

Arsene.

That's exactly what I wanted. Everything looks OK except for CPUz while running Prime. Notice the multiplier setting. It says 34 (16-37). That means it should idle at 16 or 1600MHz and when turbo kicks in should go to 3700MHz. But yours is running at 3400MHz. It should be running at 3700MHz. A multiplier of 37 is stock for your CPU. What I would like you to do is go to bios, and pay close attention to this. AI Overclock tuner click that and you should have a choice of ayto, XMP and Manual, click XMP. For turbo ratio Click it and type in 37 and press enter. Under CPU voltage leave offset for now, offset sign + ( as it is now) and offset voltage click that and put .005 and press enter. Be sure to put the . in front and 005 after. So, it should say .005. Save and exit. Run Prime again and see what it says. Please post the same screenshot and keep a close eye on temps. If it gets to 85 stop the test. Otherwise post another screenshot of CPUz and core temp while Prime is running. If you have any questions, please ask.

More like it should be, don't you think? Your Ram is running faster and your CPU is running at the speed it should. You were right about shutting down because of temps. Now, see if you can find a better CPU cooler. How are the games going? Any better, I hope.

Hello Essenbe.

Thanks for your help and responses.

I know how to reset CMOS, indeed before running the last test with Prime, CPU-Z & CoreTemp I reseted it and changed the configurations(XMP, turbo ratio and Cpu offset 0.005).
If it´s necessary I can do it again anytime it´s needed.

Now, about this "You should be able to set optimized defaults in bios and it run well at stock voltage", I didn´t quite get it. Should I load optimized defaults?. Well I´ll wait for your instructions.

And I´ll start looking for a new cooler. I´ll have to save a little money but if it´s what you recommend I´ll do it as soon as I can.

I hadn´t noticed about the the ram. That´s great, thanks!.

Read you later.
Arsene.

It may be worth a try to set optimized defaults. What I meant was that your computer should run the CPU at stock on default values, that's all. But, as you saw it is not. If you do set defaults, before doing that check your sata controller and see what it is set to right now. It should be in the advanced tab and should be either IDE, AHCI or raid. After setting optimized defaults (F5 usually) make sure your sata controller is set just like it is now. I believe Asus has them set to AHCI by default. But if yours is different it has to be set like it is now. Then, go back and set the XMP values for your ram like it is now. Try not changing the voltage for the CPU, then set the boot order, save and exit and see how it does.

As far as the CPU cooler. You do not have to buy one right now. But, I think you can see for yourself that the temps are getting way too high. You can get a decent cooler for not much money if you shop around a little. Make sure it will fit in your case and clear your ram if it is that large. But, almost any cooler is better than the stock Intel cooler.

I hope your computer is doing better. Never be afraid to ask a question or for an explanation if I say something you don't understand.
