BSOD playing Vindictus, starting at 2PM today

I have been Vindictus with a group of friends for approximately 2 months now, and have had no previous issues. This morning, I found a pop-up asking to patch the game (which i had left running overnight). I allowed the game to patch from the main company servers (Nexon), and after restarting my computer, was forced to allow the game to update using the third party software (Steam) that I play through. I received an error message that the launcher was not working, and launched the game without the launcher using the local .EXE (as is done by the developer, Nexon, and is local to Steam). I was able to play the game successfully for about an hour, when my music and game froze, and my computer restarted. I thought this was odd, so after letting the computer boot, i killed all non-essential programs and relaunched Vindictus. after about 30 seconds at the character selection screen, i received a BSOD. Over the next 4 hours, my computer restarted itself while i attempted to rectify the issue, with no BSOD. I have now updated every driver on my rig, and still receive the same restart, at various intervals.

Xerophyte, you need to supply some more information to us.

Fill up your system specs.
See your system specs and fill it up here.

Upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.

  1. Click on the start button
  2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
  3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
  4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
  5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.
All your BSODs are stop 0x124, which is supposed to be a hardware issue.

And when the first parameter is 0, the failing hardware is undetermined by the crash dump, and we need to go far a lots of tests to identify it.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Stress test the CPU.
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings.

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.
eXtreme Power Supply Calculator
Also let us know the wattage of your PSU.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/311593-speccy-publish-snapshot-your-system-specs.html .

Let us know the results.

Hi Xerophyte, welcome to 7F! :)

We already know that you can not find misinfo32 by entering misino32 into the Search box, but there are two other ways to try and get to it.

Follow step #1 under Here's How: in this tutorial: System Information, then follow step#3 to edit/copy/paste and save the information. Then upload it into your next reply.

If it still will not open, then try this.

Open Windows Explorer and drill down to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo
Left click on the MSInfo Folder you should see:

View attachment 298353

Left click on the file to open it and follow step #3 as above to upload into your next reply.

If in either case it won't open or you see a:

   Warning
"Can not Collect Information"
or
"Cannot access the Windows Management Instrumentation software.
Windows Management files may be moved or missing."

Go into the Services Management Console: Start >Run >Services.msc >OK and see if the "Windows Management Instrumentation" service is running. Mine is started and set to automatic.

If it is not then right click on it and click on properties, check the Startup type is set to Automatic, and down at Status click on Start.
Then click on the dependencies tab check to make sure the dependencies are started and running; Apply and OK your way out.

Try either suggestion above in my post to see if misinfo will open, if it still won't start reboot your machine, and try again.

If it is started and running use ICit2lols' first suggestion to run SFC /scannow and run it three times with restarts in between (see first note box in tutorial).

If all this doesn't help You should follow Geethu Bs' steps outlined here: Unable to access msinfo32, error message "can't collect - Microsoft Community

Thanks for the help with the Msinfo32 thing, attached as a .zip.
Already own Malwarebytes, came back clean. However, AdwCleaner did not. Same goes for SUPERAntiSpyware.

AdwCleaner results are attached, and SUPERAntiSpyware cleared 53 threats, mostly from Firefox (which i do not use).
Chkdisk was ran yesterday, with the option for registry errors checked, along with file system errors, which both came back clear.

Running sfc /scannow turned up the completion message of: Windows Resource Protectcion did not find any integrity violations.
Running sfc /verifyonly turned up the completion message of: Windows Resource Protectcion did not find any integrity violations.

Right, so I ran Memtest86+ last night, and received an error. I will be following the steps on that thread to narrow down where the error is coming from.

No more BSODs? Is Steam a necessity for playing games? It seems to be involved in many BSOD threads as is iTunes.
I have ceased to run with Steam, however the BSOD still occurs as of 22/12/2013, just much less frequent 3-4 hours of sitting AFK as opposed to 15 minutes of actual gametime before i contacted Sevenforums.

So i have been trying to run the Memtest86+ program to isolate the ram stick with errors, but my BIOS will not boot without 2 sticks, and 2 slots, installed. This problem is making the testing take 2+ days, and i only know for sure that 2 of 4 sticks are clear, as well as two slots.
Any advice for fixing this?

I don't understand this statement.

Right. So with my computer open, I am looking at the slots for the RAM cards.
There are 4 slots, and as such, 4 cards.
Scenario 1: RAM card #1 inserted in RAM slot #1:
When i press the power button on my PC, my fans start running, the hard drive boots up, and my screen, keyboard and mouse all do not respond, and even after computer is untouched for several hours, Windows/BIOS does not load. As well, my headphones connected through the main USB ports light up, indicating they are running.
Scenario 2: RAM card #1 and #2 inserted in RAM slots #1 and 2, respectively:
When power button is pressed, fans start running, hard disk boots up, welcome screen follows approximately 4 The problem I am having is that the computer will not boot with a singular RAM card installed, meaning i have to install 2 cards to get a response from Memtest86+, resulting in the tests taking twice as long.

Have you tried with the RAM sticks in slots 3 and 4? The memtest is meant to test all RAM stick at once, then if there are errors start doing the single ones in each slot. I have 16GB, 2x8GB, which takes memtest 18 hours to do 8 passes.
