BSOD playing World of Warcraft, error 0x00000111

So a bit of history first up.

A few months back my Gigabyte 580GTX video card died, I got it sent off for warranty and was given an Asus 580GTX DirectCUII card to use in the meantime.

Previously I didn't have any issues with the Gigabyte card when it came to playing games.

So for games like Battlefield 4 and this new Asus card I discovered that it had been overclocked from factory by an extra 10mhz over the default nVidia speeds - So 782mhz instead of default 772mhz. Ok so I fixed that using the Asus GPU tweak tool and clocking it back down to 772mhz, BF4 then stopped crashing.

On the other hand, since getting this card I have had nothing but problems playing World of Warcraft. I tried many many many times uninstalling, reinstalling, completely cleaning out the system of old and new drivers from nVidia, thinking it was their drivers causing the issue. Well it wasn't.

I learnt that apparently the default 1.00v that the nVidia 580GTX series uses is not enough power for some reason for Direct X 11 in World of Warcraft to run stable, even though there is a plethora of other games I play that use DX11 and run stable at the default voltage.

I then downloaded nVidia Inspector to see what was going on, I discovered that the card is running in idle mode at 0.963v. Fair enough, that's while I'm in windows doing jack all.

I opened the overlocking tab in the program and saw that the voltage for this card was set to 1.063v, I believe the default for the nVidia 580GTX card to run correctly with a core speed of 772mhz and memory clock of 2004mhz is 1.05v

Only finding this out today, previously I had set the voltage to 1.075v, I had been running WoW for about 5 days now with this change using DX11 with no issues, until this morning WoW kept black screening then coming back and doing the same thing until after about 40seconds I got a BSOD.

My concern here is, was my clocking to 1.075v the issue relating to the crash or is it something else? I'm gonna continue testing the game with 1.05v instead and DX11 and see if that does anything.

Update.

I tried changing the voltages as mentioned above and the game still crashes out with a display driver issue. Hence in WoW DX11 does not like these series nVidia cards as far as I can tell.

I'm currently running the game in DX9 to see if it's stable.

This can be caused by a device driver, and looking at your drivers i found this:

wdcsam64.sys                Wed Apr 16 01:39:08 [COLOR="Red"]2008[/COLOR] (4805BB2C)

This is a western digital SCSI Arcitecture Model (SAM) WDM driver. The 2008 driver version is very well known in causing BSODs. You can update it here: WD Support / Downloads / Select Product

On another hand. The other file is showing that your video is also bad.

Now looking at other information:

This driver belongs to a program called Daemon Tools. This program is actually well known in causing blue screens, so please uninstall Daemon Tools.

Start Menu\Programs\[COLOR="red"]Advanced SystemCare 7[/COLOR]

Advanced System Care and tools just alike this one are also well known in causing problems on your computer. I highly suggest uninstalling this, and any other tools you have like it off your computer.

Do this for now, and then post back the results.

Thanks mate, I'll run through each of those.
A few months back I posted a thread with another BSOD issue and Advanced Systemcare came up then as something to remove, though at the time I had not had any BSOD's in the past because of it. This time as it's come up again I'll remove it out.

I do have a full copy here of Trend Micro Max Security, is that something you can recommend as a decent program to run?
Due to the industry I work in, I get Trend Micro OEM for free.

Just a check on something, I went looking through my uninstall section to remove the Daemon Tools and it's no where to be found in there, so I have a feeling it's got keys still stuck in registry as I believe I have actually uninstalled this sometime ago but it left crap behind.

Any suggestions for a good reg cleaner? CC Cleaner for example?

All of them are WD drives. So I'm not to sure how you update an external hdd's driver.

Honestly, to make sure we have minimized every bit of possibilty, I suggest installing Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows for the time being. If we find out it is not Trend Micro, then more power to you on installing it back once we get the problem fixed.

I am always not for a registry cleaner. But it does help sometimes. I do recommend CCleaner for a reg cleaner. Al though do not do the cleaner portion just yet. It may clear out any dump files we need for analyzing it.

Hi There,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for my now late reply. Busy times as they say.

Since we last spoke I have removed a couple of items until I just had this other crash during a shutdown, but I did not see a BSOD. I actually went to bed and next morning found the computer still on frozen at the initial post screen.

Since taking this new dump I have removed as many programs out as I can possibly think of that may cause an issue. For now I have no internet security on because I'm finding they all do the same thing when I first get into windows and do a complete automatic file scan of all my drives and it completely slows my HDD's down. I can see the HDD's in Resource Monitor just getting hammered from this.

I will endeavour to find all the recent drivers for my external hdd's.

To further this I have replaced the video card I had within the machine to a new Gigabyte 780GTX OC edition. The game is running 100% smooth now without any tuning, adjustments or otherwise changes from default from both within the game and out.

So now just need to see what this recent crash was all about and if it's still related to my previous one.

I have been to the WD Support site and looked at each individual model of my external hard drives and not one of them allows you to download an updated driver. There is a few other items that relate to managing the hard drives, such as programs and firmware updaters. But nothing that will allow me to update the actual 'driver' in device manager.
