BSOD playing wow/gw2 - dxgmms1

Hello all,

I've been getting these dxgmms1 BSOD's recently and, all though they appear to be common, I've not seen a permanent fix anywhere.

The latest minidump is below, any help would be great.

It's a basic direct x fault.
Install the latest dx redistributable.
Then WIPE and reinstall graphics drivers.
That's really about the best you can do.
I usually use this for wiping display drivers.

I'm still getting crashes every now and then so I decided to use verifier to test my drivers. Enabling verifier resulted in the PC being unable to boot as that, it self would cause a Blue Screen.

I have three dumps which (i think) are the dumps from startup. Two are dxgmms and the last (below) is a HIDCLASS

Use !analyze -v to get detailed debugging information.

Sorry to say, but it is Norton Internet Security that is causing the problem here.

Had I been your place, I would have uninstalled NIS, and would have used Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows.

But, it is hard to recommend, as you paid for it.

In my best opinion, if the change is done, the situation will change.

When verifier is enabled, then in most of the cases it crashes. Verifier itself crash the system. The dump I have checked (the latest one), I got it as NIS.

For a test, you uninstall NIS for the time being, say when we are troubleshooting, and then let us find the other dimensions of the problem one by one. When all will be done, We will employ NIS again and observe our system's stability, ok?

SO, uninstall it for the time being, and ley us know if there are more crashes with verifier on. If those are there, upload the dumps for us.

It is caused by HIDCLASS.sys.

1. Right click on the My Computer icon> Select manage. It will open the computer management window.
2. Click on the "Device manager" in the left pane.
3. Expand USB Serial Bus Controller.
4. Right click > Uninstall them all, one by one.
5. When Done, restart the computer.
6. On restart, the necessary drivers will be auto-installed.

One more thing, please update your network driver. Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.

1. download the network card driver from manufactuer's website.
2. Then reinstall the driver:
3. Click the Start Button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Start Menu Search box and press Enter.
4. Double click to expand "Network adaptors".
5. Right click your network card and click Uninstall.
6. Check "Delete driver software for this device" check box, click OK.
7. Restart the computer

If windows does not auto configure the appropriate drivers at startup, install the downloaded one manually.

Let us know the results.

Now, disconnect whatever is attached with the USB ports other than keyboard and mouse. Restart the computer and see if it is crashing again or not.

If it crashes, turn USB selective suspense on and see if it changes the situation or not.

I only have mouse, keyboard and an external HDD attached via usb.

I removed the HDD and rebooted.

Another bluescreen at start-up.

you want selective suspend DISABLED, it causes far more problems than it solves. I've actually taken to disabling it on new builds.

Observe hoe the computer is running. Report back with results.

Ok ,thanks. I did follow post 11 and have followed the above too.

Freed start up, disabled verifier, disabled USB suspense.

I will attemp to use the PC and report back if/when the next blue screen appears.
