bsod -possible a cpu?

Hi guys,
Welcome everyone, I'm new here.

I run win 7 pro x86
AMD Phenom II x2 550 black 3.56GHz (denem)
Corsair (2X2GB) 800MHZ
MSI 790GX

I built it new two years ago. it was running on xp back then. I wasnt home for some months, and my Princess mentioned over the phone about the comp crashing, she changed the disk (barracuda 500G) when it stop turning on at all. the problem persisted.
When I came back, I got 7 installed and switched off auto restart -as the crashes continued -once or trice a week. The comp is on most time btw, mainly internet, some flash games by kids -thats when it usually crashes.

I ran a memtest -all 100%
OCCT detects error on core 1 of the cpu

SP 2004 test results:
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
Torture Test ran 7 minutes 30 seconds - 1 errors, 0 warnings.
Execution halted.

Does that mean cpu faulty -or some compatibility issues?

Any help appreciated -I dont understand the log files.

Please follow these steps in tha order,

If you overclocked anything,cpu,ram,gpu,please set it back to the factory settings.

Uninstall avg using the avg remover http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/avg_arm_sup_____.dir/avgremover.exe

Download and install MSE Anti-Malware, Virus, Spyware Protection | Microsoft Security Essentials

Run http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

Hello panais, thanks for taking the time...

I have a little update as well -didnt even realise, my cpu is actually 3.1. I flicked the switch on the motherboard a couple of weeks back.
put it back to default resulting clock change from 3.5 to 3.1, FSB to 200 from 220.

Just had run prime 95 for an hour and half -no errors,
OCCT running a few hours -on lean -no problems.

BSOD been happening before the OC switch, so OC wasnt the reason.

Re. AVG -I had a free version running on my XP installation as well -Had BSOD back then as well. Now running 7 and BSPD never left. My free trial of AVG IS is ending now, and I was actually going to buy Kaspersky this time. -Has it shown to cause trouble?

Re. Memtest86 -I had done it, but didnt know better than to do it once. will leave it overnight now and see. -will report back then.

Avg removed.
Mse downloaded and installed.
Memtest86 flying of cd, almost done 1st lap.

Update: im just back from a jog, and the comp done 2 passes

The next clue,

Check in bios system and cpu temperatures and post them here.

Update your System chipset drivers.

Didn't try for it. They come sometimes a few times in a week, some weeks none.
will ask my son to do some flash games tomorrow -that's usually when it happens.

well, the lad was on miniclip, moshi monsters and a few other of his sites, and the comp is still on.

I did'n think it could be as simple as this, cause the bsod was bothering the comp through two barracudas, three or four xp and 7 installations, onboard graphics, and a pcie radeon, and sounblaster audigy, then onboard, then e-mu 1212 sound, and now back to the onboard -didn't reinserted the e-mu card yet...

will monitor and see anywise
