BSOD possibly caused by adding RAM

Just to add to Arc's analysis.

You may have issues with your Toshiba HDD Drive: E (931.51GB)


Run chkdsk in an elevated command prompt in order to check for file system
errors and bad sectors on Drive E:

• Click on Start>Type in search cmd
• Right click cmd and Run as Administrator
• At the command prompt please type: chkdsk /f/r
  (There is a space between chkdsk and /f/r)

If no errors are found then test all drives (except SSD):

Problem Device:

PNP Device ID: ROOT\UNAMED_DEVICE\0000
Status: [COLOR=red]Error 32[/COLOR]

Go to :ar: Device Manager and delete the device.

Also update your XBox USB wireless controller as the drivers for the version installed are known for BSOD:

Please uninstall SSD Drive Magician as it's driver may be causing issues.
(You can re-install if not found to be the case)

SO I have done all of this, but the issue still remains. The thing is, even before all of the steps you guys have had me take, if I leave the original RAM in the main DIMM slots, the computer does not blue screen. I have had the original RAM in since Saturday and I took out the new sticks I bought and have left the machine on since Saturday for 4 days and I have not gotten one BSOD. It's only when I add ram to the other DIMM slots that the blue screens occur, so I really do not think that it's a driver issue, because if it was, wouldn't the computer crash with only the original ram in use?

Basically, in short, the computer will only crash to a blue screen with ram added in the 2 black DIMM slots (The main DIMM slots are gold).

That is a good information you have arrived at. May be the board is faulty itself that it cannot work with RAM sticks with th black DIMMs (provided the new RAMs are of the same specs of the original ones) ..... in that case it is better to consult with the motherboard vendor about that issue.

The new RAM has all the same timings and voltage and is the same DDR3-1600 as the original. I have no clue as to why it only crashes with the RAM in the black DIMM slots. Could it be settings in the BIOS or something? I will have to see if I can contact ASUS support then

I think it is the motherboard itself that is failing to accept RAM stick in those black DIMMs.

That's what I am thinking as well, I am going to have to try to contact ASUS to see if they can do anything.
