BSOD Power Driver State Failure After System Resume

Hi,

I had this problem a while back but it went away by itself (and me making sure all drivers, etc were up to date).
However, it is now back and I'm at a loss as to the cause.

Essentially, after I resume my laptop after sleep/hibernation then it works for 5-10 minutes and then I get the BSOD POWER_DRIVER_STATE_FAILURE. After rebooting everything works great again and I don't get any crashes. This doesn't happen if I switch the laptop off and then switch it on again, only after resume.

I've attached the SF Diagnostics Tool zip, and any pointers would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

Whoops, sorry about that. I have the kernel memory dump but that is ~600MB.
Should I upload that somewhere (way to big an attachment for here - any preference on file host?), or just wait for the next BSOD now I've switched the settings to Minidump?

Thanks

Wait for the next BSOD, keep the settings for Minidump.

Hi again,

Oddly, I had avoided the BSOD since April, but I've had it a few times again in exactly the same circumstances, so though I would post here again with a minidump and all SF diagnostics

Thanks for any help!

This bugcheck indicates that a device object is blocking a IRP for too long. The major function code 16 (IRP_MJ_POWER), means that the IRP has been sent to a power-related stack, with the minor function code 2 (IRP_MN_SET_POWER), indicating that a request has been sent.

Your raw stack trace indicates that your Intel onboard graphics card is causing issues, please update the driver from here - Intel® Driver Update Utility

Sadly, it appears this didn't quite do the trick, as I just got another BSOD in very similar circumstances.
They tend to happen about 15-30 minutes after my laptop comes out of sleep/hibernation.

Any other ideas?
I've attached another dump if it helps.

Thanks again

There's seems to be a issue with some of the USB drivers, follow these steps:
  1. Start :orb:
  2. Type: Device Manager
  3. Expand USB Controllers
  4. Uninstall driver (for every listed device)
  5. Reboot
The drivers should now be automatically reconfigured by Windows upon reboot.

If you are using any USB devices, then remove these from the USB ports (leave keyboard and mouse), and then update all the devices with the latest drivers, including the mouse and keyboard if applicable.

Turn off USB Suspension:

Avast! seems to be causing a few issues, please remove using the Avast Removal Tool, and then install and run full scans with these free and proven alternatives which work best with Windows 7.

Install and perform full scans with:

Your Intel Rapid Storage driver (form part of your ACHI/RAID driver) is causing problems, this driver is well-known to cause problems with several operating systems.

I would remove the driver completely using these steps:
  1. Go to Device Manager
  2. Expand Disk Drives, remove the drivers for each device.
  3. Reboot
  4. Windows will auto-configure the driver msahci.sys

Hmmm... Sadly this doesn't seem to have fixed the problem :(

I went through everything on the list one by one as recommended.
I did have an issue using the Avast Removal Tool, as after running it and rebooting I had a serious registry issue (BSOD on startup), but managed to fix that by reinstalling Avast in Safe Mode and then just removing normally through Add/Remove Programs. Would you recommend running something like CCleaner now after this?

Back to this BSOD problem, again when resuming my laptop, after about 30 minutes I get a BSOD DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. I've attached a new diagnostics zip.

Thanks again for any help

There's no new dump files within the folder unfortunately, please check within this directory:

Code:
C:\Windows\Minidump
What makes you think you may have registry issues? I would never recommend any registry cleaner even CCleaner.

Odd - there's no new dump files in there either. I've not made any changes to SystemPropertiesAdvanced.exe or anything, I'm pretty confused by that - I just checked and they are still set like this tutorial - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/174459-dump-files-configure-windows-create-bsod.html

I gathered it was a registry issue because the BSOD was REGISTRY_ERROR / 0x00000051, and I googled it. Could that be something else?

Thanks again
