BSOD Power_Driver_State_Failure Asus, Win7, 64bit.

Hi Guys,

Every now and then I am getting a BSOD as per title. Asus laptop PC operates pretty slick apart from sometimes takes ages to shut down with "configuring updates".

Dump attached, all help/comments appreciated....

Hi.

Norton is known to cause BSOD-s, consider uninstalling it with the Norton Removal Tool and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials at least to test.

Recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability compared to other antiviruses/internet security software. It is free and lightweight:-
:ar: Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.

The BSOD seems to be caused by very old NVIDIA Drivers.

Get the latest from your lappy's manufacturing website or the Nvidia website.

METHOD FOR INSTALLING:
Click on the Start :orb: ► Control Panel ► Programs ► Uninstall a program ► Uninstall everything related to; NVIDIA and reboot the system. Delete remnants of its drivers/older drivers using Driver Fusion/Sweeper

Perform a System File Check:
  • Click on the start :orb:
  • Type CMD on Search
  • Left click and Run as Administrator
  • Type SFC /scannow

Check disk was clean.

System File Check ran as follows:

Straight after this my reboots were a lot quicker! Installed newer bios and latest NVidia driver (clean install). Reboots are rapid and no BSOD as yet. However, it did only happen every few days.

I shall fully test and report back.............

Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Method 2)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and attach it to a reply.

I'm a bit confused -
You have a lot of Hyphenation-Parent files 'missing' - but as far as I can tell, there are only two in a normal system.
Did you install this version of IE 10 direct from MS, or from somewhere else?


I've uploaded a file - matxx.zip - to my SkyDrive at https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=936736BB8FCEB92F&id=936736BB8FCEB92F%21526
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder matxx in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be one folders inside (Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.
