BSOD - Random - May be a hardware issue

A friend asked me to look at his sony vaio laptop model VPCF136FM
Win 7 Home Premium
i7-740QM
6 gigs of 1333 Ram
Nvidia 425M
500 gig spinner HDD

When I first received the computer I wiped and reinstalled the OS using the on-board partitioned tools. Everything seemed to work fine. I was then told that the computer is BSODing after about 5 minutes, which I have confirmed. This also occurs even at the login screen. I ran a memtest with no issues. Im trying to determine if its a software or hardware issue at this point. Unfortunately I dont have spare parts for this laptop to determine if its a power or HDD issue etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Norton Internet Security seems to be causing a few problems and is a possible cause for the BSODs, Norton products are a well known cause for BSODs in Windows 7, please remove Norton using the Norton Removal Tool, and then install and run full scans with these free and proven alternatives, which work best with Windows 7 due to their lightweight nature on system resources and compatibility with the operating system.

Install and perform full scans with:

• Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download
• Microsoft Security Essentials | Protect against viruses, spyware, and other malware

Remember to install the free version of Malwarebytes not the free trail; untick the free trial box during installation. MSE is the most lightweight and compatible with the Windows 7 operating system

Please install all the Important and Recommended Windows Updates:

Start rb: > Type: Windows Update > Install Updates/Scan for Updates
