BSOD randomly

sorry if i didnt follow the guidelines precisely i am new to the site :/

- windows 7 ultimate x64 - computer was built from scratch - all parts are original - - - all the hardware is brand new and recently purchased less than 3 months - within a year
so the computer starts up normally and it runs great but sometimes during games like Deus Ex, Withcer 2 the game will randomly freeze. Sometimes after 30 min sometimes after hours and sometimes it will not freeze at all.

But with the game Dead Island the game will freeze in less than 15 min for sure.

I ran a program called Sandra to benchmark the hardware and it seems that the test will progress normally until it tries to benchmark the memory of the video card, then it would freeze there

i also ran programs like whocrashed and this was the report:

What you're looking for will be in one of the following categories:

a) BIOS bug
b) a driver whose activity is causing the target processor to lock up
c) a hardware defect (temperature, voltage, dust, RFI, outright borkedness...)

So, check the drivers
Then check the inside of the case (temperature, voltage, dust, etc).
Then run some hardware stress tests

Try this free video stress test: FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net
Try this free stress test: Free Software - GIMPS

Prime95 Setup:
- extract the contents of the zip file to a location of your choice
- double click on the executable file
- select "Just stress testing"
- select the "Blend" test. If you've already run MemTest overnight you may want to run the "Small FFTs" test instead.
- "Number of torture test threads to run" should equal the number of CPU's times 2 (if you're using hyperthreading).
The easiest way to figure this out is to go to Task Manager...Performance tab - and see the number of boxes under CPU Usage History
Then run the test for 6 to 24 hours - or until you get errors (whichever comes first).
The Test selection box and the stress.txt file describes what components that the program stresses.

Then try replacing parts.
Then look up the versions of your BIOS to see what changes were done.[/QUOTE]

is there any way to pin point what drivers might be causing this error? or should i just start from scratch and re install all drivers?

ok i formatted my computer, updated the motherboard BIOS to the most recent one and now i am going to reinstall the games to see if anything happens

Almost always is quicker and more efficient to do that. Should you still have BSOD's it is probably hardware related.

re: Identifying drivers. You can run driver verifier to identify the errant driver.
