BSOD report shows 3 problems

I'm running Windows 7 on an Acer Aspire desktop (E700) It's the 32 bit version. It is the upgrade version, but a clean install on a brand new hard drive. ( I still have the Vista on an old drive, no longer in machine because it's dead)
The Mobo (Intel) and Processor (Q6600 Intel 2 quad) are both about 3 1/2 years old. The graphics card is new (Nvidia Geforce GTS450) as is the HD (1TB WD black cav) Power supply is a 500W about 6 months old. My External HD is a WD My Book Essentials 1TB w/Smartware (Which is a major PITA)

Although the report says I have no Anti-Virus installed, I do, in fact it's Microsoft Security Essentials version 1.0.2498.0. It's all up to date.

My error logs are loaded with errors such as 1014, 7026 and a couple new ones a 2 and now the ntfs is corrupt and unusable.
What next???
Right now I'm going to run a sfc, then a diskck. Will come back later to see if anybody knows what's going on with a new OS and HD.

Talk about feeling like an idiot Sorry about that. It's been one of those days.
I did do the sfc, no problems. Also ran a full disk check, even checked for bad sectors. 3 1/2 hours later no problems I guess. it ran and the next thing when I looked it was done and was sitting at the opening screen. (Just so you don't think I'm totally nuts, I also put a short screenshot of the Ntfs errors)

That event log (according to your reports) is complaining about \Device\Harddisk5\DR7 over and over. Are there multiple drives in this system (the default boot drive is usually DR0)?

The only other drive I have is the external, but I did forget to unhook it when I ran the disk check.
I can run the BSOD scan again. I'm still getting the boot error. I thought it might be the fact that I didn't install the PE drive for the Macrium program so I went back and installed that and added it to the boot menu. Still didn't fix it.
I also got an update from Windows this morning and when I rebooted I got the Ntfs warning again. About a dozen times.:banghead: I unhooked the external drive yesterday so I know that's not causing the problem today.

Can you clear your event logs, reboot, and then run the report again and re-upload the data? Just so we don't get any erroneous data from the external drive, I'd like to look at it again.

Well that didn't work out so well. I tried to follow the help folder on "how to clear the logs". It says: right click on the Action and click clear, as you can see there isn't any such thing there. I also tried the command prompt but am not getting it right there either. Why can't Microsoft just leave a good thing alone.

How do I get the logs cleared so I can run a new scan?

I read the tutorial, I didn't find any kind of "dump file" mini or otherwise. The "how to create one" link is not working. I ran a search and this is what it fed me.
Let me know if it's what you need.

Seems your system is not configured to generate mini dumps
Set MiniDump

Followed the instruction, hopefully this will show the dump.

I have my external drive disconnected. There was a firmware and software update on both. I think the driver that it was looking for is either the new one or the older version?? I may wipe that drive clean and see if I can just start over with it. If I erase it, will it keep the new updates?

Still no dumps, either this means your computer is not BSOD'ing or still not set to generate mini dumps

No I'm not getting a BSOD. It was suggested in a different section of the forum that I run these test, zip em up, and send them to this forum for a look see.


I looked again to make sure my setting were the same (hadn't changed themselves). The other setting on the debugging was a "Kernel dump"??? I did notice that instead of the "Small memory dump (64 kB)" the setting on mine is for 124kB???

The only potential case for a BSOD not creating a .dmp file (other than an F4 where a critical system process crashes - this can happen) is that the paging file is not configured on the same drive as \Windows and is not set to at least the size of RAM+50MB or so (for overhead in generating the .dmp file). If you leave your system to let Windows manage it, that's fine for performance but potentially bad for creating .dmp files. I'd suggest, at least for testing, you configure it to be on the \Windows volume manually (usually C: ), and set the initial and max sizes manually to be RAM+50MB - for example, if you have 4GB of RAM, you'd configure both initial and max to be 4146 (4096+50).

That's exactly what I'm running 4 GB. How do I get to where I configure that? I found system configuration, but I don't think this is what you mean. According to this I have a a paging file and a dump file????

No need - your system is configured properly. If it's not creating dump files or writing out administrative events to the logs, something is amiss. However, I went back and re-read all of your posts, and I don't see any indication of you seeinng a BSOD - I see indications you're having disk errors (of course), but no indications your system is crashing. Is it actually crashing?

Nope not crashing, just trying to get the thing runnig right before I run my first backup. No point in backing up somthing that doesn't work right.
