Ok I've performed all of those steps now. Is there any way to check that I've done it correctly? Can't really give verdict yet if it worked or not.

Oddly enough though, the delay in establishing internet connection thing seems to be fixed.

I would also be interested in finding out more about whether my memory is damaged

Let's see if the SSD power cycle provides more stability first. Then we can start to look into the RAM if necessary.

The SSD having problems being detected by the system can result in any number of different symptoms, so that may have been why your network connection issues were occurring. Might also explain the other crashes. Time will tell.
