I've been having periodic BSOD issues. I've uploaded the dump file and a screen shot of the blue screen app. Here's the bullet points (so it's easier to digest):

  • Windows 7, Version 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
  • Locale ID: 1033
  • always related to irql_not_less_or_equal, ntoskrnl.exe (except for the 2nd to last one, which had to do with NTFS)
  • This makes me believe it's hard drive failure, but I'm leaving chkdsk /r until the last minute
  • I thought it might have something to do with the USB WD External hard drive, but I ran chkdsk /r on that drive, didn't find any issues and the last BSOD happened after I unplugged the drive.
  • The last BSOD occurred right after I put the computer in sleep mode and had my Galaxy S3 hooked up charging.
  • Unfortunately, I do not remember if the previous BSOD events happened when the computer was in sleep mode or when I had my phone charging.
  • I am going to run memtest and also attempt to upgrade the graphics drivers, but I'm hoping someone here can say 'Bingo!" it's this driver.

The BSOD happened last night when I put it into sleep mode w/o the phone charging. And I ran memtest the night before and came up with errors. Please do not respond yet, as I am going to replace the memory and upload a small memory dump if/when it happens again. I am pretty sure the reason for the BSOD only happening in sleep mode is that Windows attempts to save the system state to memory and freezes up when it can't. Regardless of the reason for the BSOD, I will be replacing the RAM. Thanks.
