A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

   Tip
Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.

You can read more on this error and what to try here... Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try: Stop 124 Troubleshooting Strategy

If you are overclocking any hardware, STOP. Reset any changed values back to default.

Please run these tests and report back the results

Hi,

I have run sfc /scannov, Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations
I have run chkdsk, that did not find any issues with the HDDs
I have also run the Samsung Hard Drive diagnostics, that did not find any issues as well
I have skipped the Clean Setup (that seemed to be too much work, and my BSOD did not happen since then).

I was not able to get the memory tests running, as booting from the USB stick halted with Boot Error.
In BIOS I did not have the possibility to select "USB - zip", I only had USB Fat32 option.
Any idea what could have gone wrong? I reformatted the USB about 4 times...

thanks,
beskio

1. Download the latest version of the "Auto-installer for USB Key (Win 9x/2k/xp/7)" from this link: Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

2. Plug in an empty USB key drive. Size is no concern, as the actual files take up 180 KB of space.

3. Go into the .zip folder you downloaded, and double-click on the .exe file inside.

4. Follow the setup utility. To reduce the risk of problems, it is advised to format the drive.

Did you follow 3 and 4 from the tutorial? You shouldn't have a "USB.zip" Let it run for at least EIGHT full passes, it will take a few hours. This may take some time to track down your issue. The 0x124 stop error usually is hardware related and often difficult to find.

Here is the memtest86+ file to use.

Hi Britton30,
Thanks for the support. I tried writing the iso file to DVD, that boots nicely, so I will run the memtests during the night.
