Hi, Please help, I've tried everything.

I have a Dell Vostro 200 (about 2 yrs old) that came with Vista OS, I upgraded to Win7 about six months ago. Everything worked perfectly. Couple of days ago, win donwloaded a couple of upgrades and everything became a mess.

Everytime I start the PC, after 1-2 mins of the Win logo it halts, displaying for a couple of seconds a BSOD with the following error:
STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x00000000, 0x80786985C, 0x80786440)

I've tried all System Recovery Options:
- Startup Repair takes ages and says No solution was found
- System Restore also takes ages, half of the times it actually finishes, asks for a restart, and then the same BSOD!!! On the other half, I get the error: Unespecified error ocurred during System Restore (0x8000ffff)
- System Recovery hangs

I've checked HD's (I have 2 HDs) with no problems. I don't believe is a hardware issue.

Yesterday, finally a System Restore worked after I deleted the file c:\windows\system32\codeintegrity\bootcat.cache and replaced it with the same file from another pc (Solution posted somewhere on the web). Unfortunately when finally login in, Windows asked to intall updates donwloaded from the web and the problem came back!!! I've tried the same method again with no success.

I'm attaching the ZIP file. I ran the exe from the prompt available at the System Recovery Options screen, but I cannot run perfmon.exe

What do you think??? WHat could it be???

Any help is GREATELLY APRECIATED!!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

Crispy:

I tried to follow those instructions, but since I cannot login to Windows, I had to run Windows_NT6_BSOD_v3.03_jcgriff2_.exe from the command prompt at the System Recovery Options Menu.

What I did was:
1.- Press F8 before Windows starts
2.- Select "Repair Your Computer"
3.- Select "Command Prompt"
4.- Insert USB with exe file
5.- Copy your exe file to c: and run it
6.- Copy minidump files to USB and post them here

I cannot start windows so I can't run it within windows.

How can I do it???

Thanks!!!!!

I say just run a chkdsk, right click your harddrive then select properties > tools > check now > tick both boxes and restart the pc.....

OR

"WindowsKey + R" > type in : "CMD" >press "Enter" > type in : "CHKDSK/F">"Enter"

RUN IT SAFEMODE

OR

Enter the WINDISK and do it Disk way..
