BSOD - STOP: 0x000000F4 from time to time

Hello,

I`m having an BSOD error, and it also refuses to write a minidump and kerneldump.
So I can`t use any analysis tools. And yes, it`s enabled!

Stop message:
*** STOP: 0x00000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA800F209B30, 0xFFFFFA800F209E10, 0xFFFFF80003787240)

After restart it sometimes does not find the primary harddrive.

The error pops up from time to time. Sometimes from browsing the web, downloading or playing a game. It even pops up while I`m not doing anything at all.

I did a checkdisk and it turned out clean.

Hello Exi and welcome to Sevenforums.

I did not find any crashdumps. Make sure they're enabled.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Press Start, in the Search Box type: "sysdm.cpl" (without the quotes), press Enter.
* Select the Advanced tab, click on Startup and Recovery Settings.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information headline select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box.
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK till you're out of the dialogue.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Copy all the content from %systemroot%\Minidump, zip it all, and upload it.

Hi, I happen to have the EXACT same problem as you do...
First time it happened i hadn't the time to see what was saying the BSOD but eventually (after activating the "KernelDump") i saw that exact message...
And when i reset, my WD is found but not my SSD...
CHKDSK and SFC /scannow are also perfect and my S.M.A.R.T. indicate full green (health 99%)...

I have this computer for a year and the BSOD started for the first time yesterday...since then, i had already 4 crashes

You don't happen to have an SSD (for your os) on a P67 board? (i saw a lot of people having this (i'm one of them)

Personnally, i tried to move my SSD to the 2nd port (if you have a p67 , i'm talking about the Marvell controller) and hope it will solve my problem...Might be interresting to try that for you too

For now, it's been 1-2 hours without a crash so i hope it's really the Sata port but since it's as random as you...

BTW, Sorry for talking about my problem on your page but since it seem to be the same problem...(unless you say you don't have a p67 nor a ssd)

*Edit: Forget the idea "move from port one to port two". As i left the keyboard, another BSOD ...
I'm trying right now with the other controller (less performant but maybe more stable...)
If it's still crashing , i fear that for me (despites the clean S.M.A.R.T.), it might be my SSD...
Best test would be to install Windows on my other drive but first, i'm testing this.

*Edit 2 : i did try a lot of stuff yesterday and finally decided to do something i really don't like...upgrade the firmware. I cross my finger but up until now , no crash.
If you do have an ssd, consider upgrading your FW
