BSOD streaming video / Guild Wars 2

Most BSOD crashes occur while streaming video on twitch.tv or while playing Guild Wars 2. I am also, crashing while AFK with streaming video paused (i.e. youtube or twitch.tv) and non-BSOD freezes while browsing webpages using minimal video in Firefox or Opera. These crashes are fairly frequent, several times per week. Thanks in advance to anyone reading these forums.

Hi lebubbles

You have various types of BSOD error... mostly code or driver or memory corruption but all arising from one single process -- Avast Antivirus !!!

I would suggest you remove Avast ( as its known to cause BSOD to lots of ppl here ) and install MSE (Microsoft Security essential.) as it is light on the system and does work with the Windows firewall.

Let me know if it still BSOD, once you have done this.

Hi Centaur, and thank you for your good advice. The frequency of BSODs has dropped, but some still occur. Getting rid of Avast must have stopped some errors, but not all. I am attaching a new SF Diagnostic grab. Thanks again.

First update you BIOS to the latest Version 4002

There were lots of update and stability fixes to your bios after the Version 0601 which is currently installed.

Then report back if any BSOD..

The BSODs slowed down after Centaur's fixes back in 2013. They slowly started picking up again. I had to do a full reinstall of Windows just a month or two ago, and now I'm getting BSOD almost daily. They occur after heavy graphics use. Either streaming video or computer games.

LeBubbles, first off update the BIOS to the latest version as before to Version 4003.

Secondly All the BSOD has occured due to high temp at the North and SouthBridge. If you check the event logs you will see that the temps where at 373K or 99.85 Celsius.

If you check your manual ... you will see that the max cpu temp you can set for the Q fan control is 75 deg Celsius.

I would suggest you physical check the CPU fans and other fans for any dust buildup and use aircan or blower to clean them. Try providing proper ventilating to your CPU and then check again for the temps while playing you games and report back again.

Thanks again for your ongoing help. I've made the following adjustments.

Relocated PC for better circulation.
Dismantled and cleaned PC.
Installed stronger CPU fan.
Updated BIOS and other mobo drivers.
Reinstalled windows.
Switched to Firefox.

BSOD occurs mostly while streaming video and sometimes while playing games. Is there software you recommend for a newbie who wants to try troubleshooting these problems himself? Do I just run the DM log collector and then use something to read the .dmp files?
