Have had two BSOD's in the past couple of weeks. I don't do much on the PC except email and surf. System is about 8 months old. Today's BSOD happened when surfing internet. Had Thunderbird v17.0.2 and IE9 open. IE9 has crashed and restarted quite a few times in the last few weeks. Each time it "checks for problems" but nothing happens. Win Update runs in auto mode. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Download and install this version.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

Let us know the results.

Thank you Arc.

I upgraded StorageCraft from 4.2.7 to 5.0.1. I installed the Intel driver you suggested (screenshot attached). It says it's for Win XP and I am running Win7. I hope that's not a problem.

I ran the memory test for 10 passes. I don't know how to interpret the results or if they are saved somewhere as a file. I searched many posts for information on reading results but couldn't find any. How do I know the results? When it was running, there was a count for Errors and ECC Errors. There were over 6 million Errors but 0 ECC Errors. Does this help?

Thanks again!

Hello kgirot58.

About the driver version, see this post by Dave76. I think it works, coz he is a senior debugger, he would not have suggested anything wrong I think.

As you are getting memory corruption, you should change/ replace your RAM modules.

Thank you!! Will be contacting Dell since this thing is still in warranty.

I assume those 6 million errors are a problem. Is there a way to retrieve an error report to show Dell?

Called Dell and expected to be on the phone for 3 hours doing diagnostics and then be told to do a factory reset. To my surprise when I told them that Memtest86 found errors, they didn't argue and shipped me 4 refurbished (ugh!) mem sticks. I removed one pair and ran Memtest with no errors. Removed/replaced the other pair and ran it again with errors immediately. I replaced that pair with the refurbs from Dell and ran one pass with Memtest86 with no errors. Looks like I'm good! Thanks Archie!!
