BSOD SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (3b)

I've been experiencing regular BSODs now for about 3 months and it is getting worse. Sequence is getting pretty routine. Upon 'cold' boot, system boots fine and I log into Windows and start working. Within about 5-10 minutes, screen freezes with blurred color bars. Upon power off/on, system emits 3 beeps and freezes with black screen. Upon next power off/on, I usually get the prompt to boot in safe mode/etc. Usually after anywhere from 5-8 reboots, the system remains stable unless I leave it in hiberation for extended period of time, in which case it can freeze again.

Sometimes, like today, I get BSOD msgs, which I have attached. I've done all sorts of virus scans to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Dell Studio XPS 435T
Original OS: Vista 64-bit
Current OS: 7 Home Premium 64-bit, upgraded from Vista late last year

You have given us a dozen minidump reports, most of which disagree on the cause. This is most likely due to a hardware problem. Please follow these instuctions and report back, with any new BSODs.

Thanks Richard, but I am having trouble getting MemTest86 to run. I downloaded v4.20 pre-compiled bootable .iso zip file. Unzipped to my desktop, then 1st tried burning it to a CD. It created the file memtest86+14.20.iso. I changed boot sequence on my PC to start w/CD drive and upon reboot, msg seemed to indicate it was reading the drive but it didn't launch anything. I tried a 2nd time, this time after downloading Alex Feinman's ISO Recorder v3.1. The dialog I get (attached) isn't the same as what is advertised on Alex's website but he hasn't posted tutorial for current version. I think there may be something wrong with how I burned to CD, but not sure. I changed the target to be my RW drive but not sure if I should check the "boot image" Include checkbox. Can you help direct me to the correct options for this form? Thank you.

I am not familiar with that software, I and most other members use imgburn. YOu may want to give that a try.

First I downloaded tool from Western Digital to check my HD. Ran full suite of tests and it passed. One odd thing was upon 1st system reboot I got an error msg saying I had a HD error and the system ran chkdsk. It seemed to report that it was fixing something (possibly bad sectors) at the very end of the run but the msg flashed by too fast for me to make note of it. I have been unable to locate any logs of what it did. I searched Event Viewer for any logs by chkdsk, but can't find any.

Next up was MemTest86+. With your advice to use ImgBurn, I was able to burn the ISO to CD and run the test. Let it run overnight. Passed.

I've also run 3 different virus scanners: Norton Internet Security, Trend Micro, and Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware. All couldn't find anything.

The good news is ever since the chkdsk ran, I haven't had any more freezes or problems booting up. It's only been about 24-36 hrs but so far, so good. I'll report back if anything else crops up in the short term but I have my fingers crossed. thanks for your help!

You are very welcome. The chkdsk probably fixed some small errors. Glad that the BSODs seem to be gone.
