Hello,

I keep getting BSODs, usually while having a flash video running, but the very last one occured without any flash video being opened.

I ran chkdsk /R on my system drive this morning with 0 errors.
I've also run memtest86 for ~10 hours with 0 errors.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I uninstalled D-Link shareport utility which from what I gather seems to be what is using DlinkUDSMBus.sys.

However I did have another BSOD, this time while having a flash video open (In Firefox this time instead of Google Chrome) while gaming.

The dump is attached below.

Thanks in advance!

Hi again,

Yet another one. This one while copying stuff from one hard drive to another. All of these BSODs are while doing these things while having a game open at the same time.

This one seems to point at Hard drive related stuff, chkdsk gave zero errors though.

Edit: I just noticed that I have a full memory dump (the 500mb+ version) of the latest BSOD, does that provide further debugging information and if so should I upload that somewhere and link here?

More BSODs. Starting to think this is Hardware related, especially as they always seem to happen during (or shortly after) the first boot of the day.

This afternoon for example:
Computer boots, I log in -> Computer completely freezes
I press the reset button -> Angry BIOS beeps (the long ones you'd get if for example you haven't inserted your graphics card properly), after a few seconds it restarts again and boots up normally, I log in, Bluescreen.
Computer reboots, starts up normally and been running fine for hours.

The problem is that I don't know what hardware would cause this. My PSU is ~3 months old, memory showing 0 errors after 8+ hours of memtest86. I would imagine HDDs are irrelevant as they wouldn't cause issues already at the POST.

In my mind this leaves Motherboard, CPU, GFX.

Does this sound right to people?
Can I assume it's the motherboard if the CPU does fine after hours of Prime95 and the Graphics card does fine with Furmark?

Thanks again!

Your bluescreen crash files are inconclusive, but point to a hardware problem.

Run the following steps and post back after doing each one.
  1. Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs.
  2. Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete.
  3. Run Driver Verifier to find any driver incompatibilities/conflicts. To run Driver Verifier, do the following:
    a. Backup your system and user files
    b. Create a system restore point
    c. If you do not have a Windows 7 DVD, Create a system repair disc
    d. Run Driver Verifier

If Windows cannot start in normal mode with driver verifier running, start in safe mode. If it cannot start in safe mode or normal mode, restore the system restore point using http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html OPTION TWO.

Thanks to zigzag3143 for contributing to the Verifier steps.
If you are unable to start Windows with all drivers being verified or if the blue screen crashes fail to create .dmp files, run them in groups of 5 or 10 until you find a group that causes blue screen crashes and stores the blue screen .dmp files.

This came back with a few orphaned files, such as "Recovering orphaned file 9b (159741) into directory file 178174." - I'm guessing these are caused by the BSODs, either way these should now be corrected

I ran memtest86+ for just short of 11 hours (9 passes), 0 errors.
Just so I'm not missing anything, they're running at the following settings (default):
Timings: 5-5-5-18, 400 MHz, Unganged.

I'm currently ~12 hours into running with driver verifier enabled - no BSOD yet, I will edit this post in about 12 hours to report whether I've had one or not.

Any other suggestions in the meantime?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Attaching a few more Minidumps in case they give any further information

You may want to run the disk check again since errors were fixed. I usually recommend running them repeatedly until Windows reports no problems with the disk.

Greetings!

Windows Memory Diagnostic ended with 0 errors.

Just now I had my first BSOD since activating Driver Verifier - This BSOD occured as I was saving the machine state of a VirtualBox machine to shut it down.

I didn't have Virtualbox started during any of my other BSODs, is it still likely that Virtualbox is causing all of them?

It may be that the VirtualBox software is corrupted and needs to be re-installed. Uninstall the software, then install the latest version.

If you continue to have problems, sometimes antivirus software can interfere with VirtualBox since it uses network resources. What antivirus do you use?

Possible causes are Memory problems... Drivers...

Your last two dumps were Verifier enabled; this means it is probably a good idea to either update VirtualBox or remove it at least for testing. Since the VirtualBox crash was not a VirtualBox network driver, I do not think it was related to MSE; MSE is trusted on these forums as not causing those types of crashes.

This most recent crash did not give a driver as the cause. It may still be RAM related. What frequency does your RAM run at? AMD processors sometimes have difficulty with frequencies above 1333, especially if they are being overclocked, but even if not overclocking. Are you overclocking anything, by the way?

Oh, forgot your specs show that it is DDR2 RAM... Should be fine as long as it is compatible with the board. I'll have to look into that later.

Edit: Do not see Corsair listed as being compatible with that board at 800, but that does not mean it is not, it just means Gigabyte never tested it. You would have to contact Corsair directly to find out if they believe those modules would work with your board and processor.

I sent a support ticket in to Corsair to ask about the compatibility, but all I got in response was that they suggest I test the memory sticks one at a time - I don't think they quite got what I was asking.

I've had two BSODs since my last post - attaching the minidumps.

Is there any other diagnostic I can do? How can I reliably figure out what exactly is causing this if it's hardware related?

Hardware debugging is unfortunately not an exact science and is often difficult to debug with software tools. There are so many peripherals built into computers that it becomes cumbersome to narrow down general problems. The only method that really works reliably is swapping out components, testing things in another computer if possible (a friend's computer, for instance), and determining which parts work and which do not.

That being said, there are tools for testing some aspects of the hardware. I see you are already familiar with prime95 and Furmark.

Hardware Diags and http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/201055-psu-testing.html#post1688197 are also good resources to check.

Were you able to determine which hardware was causing your crashes?
