Hey there guys.

My computer pretty much died on me within the last hour. The earliest known problem I can remember is when I was playing WoW earlier and the game crashed a few times in low-stress situations. Later tonight I was on Skype with some friends and I got BOYD'd. Restarted, about 10 minutes later, BYOD. Then 5 minutes, and now my computer can't even get past the boot process.

I really can't even get into Safe Mode and have tried windowsrepair multiple times, but it will restart in the process.

The only real maintenance I have done today was deleting some old game data and I deleted some old podcasts from iTunes (I did this by just going into the folder and deleting them all, not through the iTunes application; probably not it, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to mention)

The BYOD said the following:

System_service_exception

STOP: 0x0000003B (0x00000000c0000005, 0xFFFFFF8000C0988B3, 0xFFFFF88003A24AA0, 0x0000000000000000)

Currently I can't even get through safe mode or a memtest without it rebooting. I don't know a lot about fixing this stuff, but I'm good at following instructions. ;)

I'm currently on a laptop as my main computer just isn't in any useful condition.

Thank you for any help in advance!

When I attempt to do either one of those things, the computer restarts in the middle of doing it. (I.E. I click "Launch Startup Repair" and the computer restarts)

or, clicking "Launch Startup Repair" will cause the screen to go black for a moment and then display the exact same options/screen as it was just showing. Nothing happens.

Attempting to use the Windows 7 DVD to access repair options only gets me the screen, "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD". The problem there is that pressing any key doesn't do anything. I tried plugging my keyboard into different USB ports, still nothing.

I haven't found a resolution yet. = |

Update: Now when I turn it on the power light lights up, it makes a slight whirring sound, and then it turns back off. This just repeats indefinitely.

Sounds like as if one of your hardware is faulty. Open up your computer case and check if everything is OK.

I'm not sure how to tell if everything is okay.

Update: I switched out my hardrive from my old computer into my current (broken) one. It still has the same issues where it lights up for a moment, makes a whirring sound in the CD drive (nothing is in it), shuts off, and repeats.

With my hard drive in my old computer, I could finally attempt Startup Repair and the MBR fix linked above. I successfully completed the MBR fix. I did Startup Repair twice, and it couldn't fix anything both times. The hard drive still fails to boot Windows.

So, as it stands, I have a messed up hard drive, and something is wrong with some other component of the computer.

This was the only error found in the details of the Startup Repair:

Root cause found:

Unknown Bugcheck: Bugcheck 7e. Parameters = 0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff8000322ce905, 0xfffff88002edf598, 0xfffff88002edee00.

Repair action: System files integrity check and repair
Result: Failed. Error code = 0x490
Time taken = 1213672ms

You download the SeaTools for DOS, burn it to a CD and boot it to there, not your HDD.
