BSOD upgrading from VISTA

Hello,
I am trying to upgrade from Vista to Win7. It was in the last steps and I got the BSOD saying something about a REFERENCE POINTER. the screen cleared to quick and I could not write down any of the details. When it re-booted it said the installation failed and it reverted back to Vista. I have tried to find any logs or dumps with the BSOD information, but have not had any luck. Any ideas where it might have stored any logs with these details.

After the rollback I noticed the directories still out there:
$UPGRADE.~OS
$WINDOWS.~BT
ProgramData(0)

I have looked through these but did not find anything..

Any help would be appreciated.

This is on a Dell XPS/710. I ran the upgrade advisor and the only things it flagged were to de-install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and de-install iTunes
I did de-install these before beginning.

Thanks
Glenn

This seems to be a common error about the Bluetooth driver..however, I havent really found any good resolutions. I have no bluetooth devices/drivers that I know of. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Glenn

Make sure your Vista drivers are all updated in the Device Manager. Do you have any newer ones is optional Windows Update?

Be sure to connect to the internet during Upgrade, both telling the installer to do so and checking connection is up.

Try a clean boot to overcome any possible issues with running services/devices: How to Troubleshoot a Problem by Performing a Clean Startup in Windows 7 or Vista

Can you run the install from boot to Custom clean install, as this is the best install anyway and will avoid corruption being imported from Vista. Best to get the freshest possible start with the best OS ever.
