BSOD upon shutdown

I recently upgraded a friends computer from vista to windows 7. I forgot to run windows update once i had internet back up. But configured it to run at 3am and install updates. It shutdown and blue screened then rebooted. Then i went over and installed anti-virus and her programs. It did it to me when i rebooted.

The Error i get is Driver power state failure

Hi and welcome It is indeed a driver power stae failure. the driver is xcbdaVx64.sys and I cant find any info on it in google. I do know the date on yours is from 2008. It needs to be updated

Have tried googling all of the old drivers as they have similar names/dates and the only hit i got was on nvm62x64 with a few references to NVidia nForce Networking Controller

What software have you installed on the machine

You said in your post you upgraded, did you do an in place upgrade or clean install

Clicked through the device manager and clicked check for updates. Said they were current.

Guess i have to go to hp.com and download the drivers for vista for her computer. Going to hp the fool proof way to get latest driver for her computer? (Hp pavilion s2130n)

Her computer was highly infested with virus ect... so bad i couldn't get my external to hookup so i could transfer files off(Install driver failed). So i didn't delete the partition table and re-create. I just installed over and windows moved the files to window.old folder. (this qualify as clean install?)

Software wise was only Microsoft security essentials, napster, itunes, and Firefox.
