Solved BSOD variety pack, seems there is something for everyone

Built this computer back in April of 2012, and had no problems for about 7 months, but recently the BSOD has begun to occur. Sometimes frequently (like 3 within an hour) but mostly? just at random throughout the day. Can happen when browsing (firefox) or at idle. Only problem I ever had hardware-wise was an occasional boot loop... would loop once, then load OK. Maybe happened several times a week, but have not noticed it in awhile. I know many people have bitched about problems with my particular motherboard. Just throwing that out there.
I had Daemon Tools installed, but after I read it causes BSOD, uninstalled it but the crashes have continued.
Temps don't seem to be a prob, but I'm not sure how reliable the sensors are.

I have the memtest 86 cd ready, don't think I ran it long enough previously to get any meaningful results.
(about 3 hours)
Will start it now and let 'er go overnite at minimum... will post results tomorrow.

OK, at least 7-8 passes to be sure RAM is not a culprit.

OK. Ran MemTest for 8 passes. (35hrs 22min wall time) no errors.
Ran SeaTools on the RAID HDDs. Short Generic: PASS Long Generic: PASS
Ran FurMark. Not sure if I had the settings right, since my FPS seemed a bit low. Anyway, results were:
@1600 x 1200 res, 7 FPS avg (max of 9) Temp maxed out @ 75c. No artifacts.

Please follow this:

If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:

• SSD firmware
• BIOS Version
• Chipset Drivers
• Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
• If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.

Please remove any CD/DVD virtualization software, such as Daemon Tools/Alcohol 120%, as they use a driver called sptd.sys that is known to cause BSODs. Use the sptd.sys uninstaller
I prefer TotalMounter as my CD/DVD virtualization software as it allows me to burn images to a virtual CD/DVD if I just want an ISO file instead of a disc, and it is free.
Many use MagicISO - Convert BIN to ISO, Create, Edit, Burn, Extract ISO file, ISO/BIN converter/extractor/editor as well, which is also free.

There are also lot of NTFS errors.

Please uninstall Norton for the time being with the Norton Removal Tool and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials TO TEST.

Perform a System File Check:

If doing the above does not bring stability ^....​

A lot of your .dmp files come with Memory Corruption and Memory_Management (1A). I see you have already taken memtest but I would recommend taking memtest again in on individual sticks. the following manner:

Take memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes.

The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Check your motherboard manual to ensure the RAM sticks are in the recommended motherboard slots. Some motherboards have very specific slots required for the number of RAM sticks installed.

If you get errors, stop the test and continue with the next step.

1. Remove all but one stick of RAM from your computer (this will be RAM stick #1), and run Memtest86 again, for 7 passes.

*Be sure to note the RAM stick, use a piece of tape with a number, and note the motherboard slot.

If this stick passes the test then go to step #3.

2. If RAM stick #1 has errors, repeat the test with RAM stick #2 in the same motherboard slot.

*If RAM stick #2 passes, this indicates that RAM stick #1 may be bad. If you want to be absolutely sure, re-test RAM stick #1 in another known good slot.

*If RAM stick #2 has errors, this indicates another possible bad RAM stick, a possible motherboard slot failure or inadequate settings.
​

3. Test the next stick of RAM (stick #2) in the next motherboard slot.

*If this RAM stick has errors repeat step #2 using a known good stick if possible, or another stick.

*If this RAM stick has no errors and both sticks failed in slot#1, test RAM stick #1 in this slot.
​

4. If you find a stick that passes the test, test it in all the other motherboard slots.

If Part 2 testing shows errors, and all tests in Part 3 show errors, you will need to test the RAM sticks in another computer and/or test other RAM in your computer to identify the problem.

In this way, you can identify whether it is a bad stick of RAM, a bad motherboard, or incompatibility between the sticks.

Errors are sometimes found after 8 passes.

   Tip

Do this test overnight, before going to bed.

a few things I should note first: (BSOD's have gone down considerably in the past few days)
I did the actions listed below before seeing your reply.

1) I replaced my old iaStor.sys with v11.7.1013 So now I have iaStorA.sys and iaStorF.sys listed in control panel/storage controllers under Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA RAID Controller.
2) Symantec Endpoint file autoprotect stopped working. I reinstalled it. (working ok now)
3) Found dtsoftbus01-sys with that yellow exclamation in Control Panel/System Devices. Since I had previously uninstalled DT, I deleted this too. System now free of sptd.sys and dtsoftbus01.sys
(verified with duplexsecure installer tool)
4) I have NirSoft BlueScreenView installed, but it has not shown any dumps since 1/05/13. Kinda weird.
Blue screen of death (STOP error) information in dump files. But this util never shows driver/module which caused crash in lower split/screen.
(also have WinDbg installed)
5) Strange thing going on with my virtual memory settings. For about the last week, (with page file size always managed by Windows) recommended size was around 40GB. No prob. But then, page file shrunk to 12GB. So I manually set it (custom size) to 35GB-37GB but it would keep changing. At times it was reporting that no dumps could be made unless page file was at least 1GB, but obviously, the pagefile setting was set to larger than that. :huh: For last FEW days, page file is staying @ 35GB as I had set it.
Just thought I'd mention this. Current C:\ is 107GB capacity, with 13GB free. Should I increase size of drive? (my RAID 0 has total of about 230GB)
6) Also... I uninstalled PxHlpa64.sys, but now my DVD/CD drives are gone. (but show in Control Panel with yellow exclamation mark) Help!!

Good to hear you're making some progress, Kool Kat is very helpful. I'm not a RAID expert But I would give it all the space you can. Since you have SSDs a page file size of 1GB minimum and 2GB maximum should be enough.

a big my bad for not getting back here sooner. Seems the BSOD's have gone WAY down. I think the culprit was primarily Daemontools (sptd.sys) I get one every now and so often, but still have Symantec EndPoint installed. (you can see a trend I'm lazy, right? ) Also helping I think was downgrading my iaStor.sys.
Am not yet at the version suggested (gives me the jitters to change this driver) but plan on doing so. Am also still suspicious of my Gigabyte MoBo, but am not updating BIOS in that last time I did (foolishly) I lost my RAID 0 everything. Have yet to read about how this can be done without hosing the RAID 'member' drives.
Anyway, huge thanks to you, Britton30 and sevenforum for all the help. You guys ROCK! pure and simple.
Will post further after I make those changes mentioned above, but as it stands? I'm a bazillion% better off since y'all gave me a hand.
