Well, at least we have a result now. I notice you have RMAd the CPU previously?

I would suggest another RMA, however you may have difficulty with it given that you RMAd the last one not so long ago.

The alternative - looking through the thread I see a lot of BSODs with Motherboard drivers mentioned. Consider RMAing your motherboard too.

We know that the BSODs are definitely hardware caused - it is just a matter of which bit of replacement hardware was faulty too (yeah, I know the odds on getting two faulty motherboards in a row are pretty slim, however exactly that happened to me).

Yes, I've already RMA'd both the CPU and the motherboard. Considering I'm using the same power supply I had used with my previous build, I'm guessing that that is not the problem. So, the hardware failure is then restricted to either the CPU, the motherboard, and technically the RAM as well, right? The RAM is easy enough to check. Is there any way to determine whether its the CPU or the motherboard? I really don't feel like paying for shipping again.

Yes - obviously the PSU is not the problem (as you still had problems when you were using that 550W for a while).

I don't believe the graphics card is the problem, however have you tried swapping the old one back in for a day just to be sure?

The RAM is easy enough to check.

By that you mean that you still have your old sticks which you can swap in for day? Because Memtest86+/Prime95/other stress tests are not 100% accurate at all. I have seen cases before where the hardware came up "clean" but turned out to be at fault. The only accurate way to test is to see what happens when you remove the possibly faulty part from the situation.

Is there any way to determine whether its the CPU or the motherboard? I really don't feel like paying for shipping again.

I don't suppose you have a spare motherboard lying around that is compatible with the CPU? Or a spare CPU that is compatible with the motherboard? Then not really.

I could swap the old graphics card back in, however I don't see what point that would prove. I've had similar BSODs with the current graphics card and the old one, and I don't see how a bad graphics card would cause an error in Prime95.

I don't have additional RAM/CPU/Motherboards to swap into this build, however procuring compatible RAM sticks shouldn't be too hard.

I am sorry that it looks to be your CPU and/or motherboard; but I am glad you have narrowed down the problem. I agree with reventon right down the line. I don't think it is the power supply. I, too, would try to RMA the motherboard and the CPU. PLease let us know what your decide to do. And thank you for reporting back with the Prime 95 results.

Before I RMA anything, I thought it would be a good idea just to test with different RAM, since that is pretty easy to do. In the mean time, I was looking through AMD's RAIDXpert utility and noticed that it has reported numerous errors for my arrays (roughly 1.5 per day) with the only description being "unknown event". Do any of you have any experience with this utility, or any idea what would cause that? Is this an indication that its my motherboard that's faulty?

Well, when I ran another stability test my motherboard straight up died, so it looks like that one is going to get RMA'd.

I've received the new motherboard and did a clean install. Unfortunately, I'm still having problems (BSODs and core failure in Prime95). Before I RMA the CPU, I was hoping to test it in a good system. Does anyone know if this CPU (AMD Phenom II AM3 1090T) would be compatible with my old AM2+ board (MSI K9A2 Platinum)?
