Hello

I've been experiencing BSOD errors whilst viewing websites with embedded media such as YouTube content or fancy advertisements. There doesn't seem to be any indication that it's going to crash - it could be ok for twenty minutes or crash after one.

BSOD error codes are either: 0x0000007F dxgmms1.sys or 0x0000007F nvlddmkm.sys

I've tried updating the video drivers as recommend elsewhere but the problem persists. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Demesne

Update the display driver from Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Then, Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark. Take a screenshot of the furmark window before closing it. Upload the screenshot for us.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/311593-speccy-publish-snapshot-your-system-specs.html .

Thanks Arc

Display drivers updated (I did think I was running the latest).

FurMark screen capture attached. I stopped this when it was obvious that the graphics card was getting too hot.

I do a lot of surface modelling in various CAD packages. The laptop can get quite hot and the fan can be spinning at maximum quite often. I always make sure the vents are not obstructed and free from dust.

Do these temperatures look normal? Would you expect the FurMark test to bring the graphics card up to that temperature?

Thanks

Yes, the temperature is too hot to tolerate. 100ºC evaporates water.

Open the laptop. Clean the inside very carefully, without breaking anything. Clean all the air vents and fan grills. Also re-paste the thermal paste.

If you cannot do it yourself, ask a technician to do it for you. But get it done as soon as possible. Its urgent.

Until it is done, use a cooling pad.

Ok.

I've let YouTube videos run for a while and the system seems stable. Looks like the driver update has worked this time.

I know the vents and fan are dust free as I'd cleaned them not so long ago. I'll redo the thermal paste and see if this helps keep it cooler.

Thanks for your help.
