Solved BSOD when connecting EV3 Robot to pc and sharing internet connection

Hello,

as stated in the Title, i am trying to connect a Lego Mindstorms EV3 Brick to my pc that is running a custom linux-based OS (Getting Started with ev3dev). I can connect it via USB just fine, it detects it as a wired connection as its supposed to.
Now, to do what i want to do with my robot, i need to share my internet connection. The connection i share the internet connection from is my universities wireless network. I have tried enabling and disabling FIPS on that network, does not change that i get a bluescreen.

The bluescreen itself appears from a few seconds to about a minute after i activate sharing my internet connection. It says Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal.

edit: the earliest i will be able to test any solutions will be coming monday, nov 7th. i hope i can get the problem fixed until then, since the assignment needs me to run my programs on the ev3.

According to MSI support page your laptop only supports drivers for Windows 10 and 8.1, why do you have Windows 7 installed?

Good catch, i didnt even realize that. I installed Windows 7 on my pc because my university didnt provide windows 10 copies for students when i set up my laptop. i just checked and they now provide windows 10 copies as well. I hope the upgrade will fix that problem.
