64 bit windows 7 home premium
Intel i7 950
asus sabertooth x58 motherboard
6gig ddr3 @1866 from Kingston
1T SATA hard drive at 6g/s from Western Digital

Hello Geoff and welcome to Seven Forums,

Unfortunately, there were no .dmp files in the jcgriff folder...

- Navigate to \Windows\Minidump
- Copy all of the dump from Minidump to an empty folder
- Zip up the folder to a .zip file
- Upload using the paperclip attachment.

   Note
If you are running CCleaner, make sure it doesn't remove the dump files.

I have looked a for these files, I can not find them. I have my settings to write an event to the system log as small memory dump to the default place "%SystemRoot%\Minidump but no file is there when I look for it.

I also have done a search for .dmp files and comes up empty

Any ideas? thanks for the response

Does the Minidump folder exist on your computer?

Do you have CCleaner installed on your computer like I asked?

The directory should be... %SystemRoot%\Minidump

Hi DeanP,

No, the folder doesn't exist.

Also, no I do not have CCleaner installed

thanks

Create a minidump folder and name it Minidump in C:\Windows
Get another BSOD and it should create in Minidump folder.

Thanks everyone for the help,

I made the folder named Minidump and then recreated the BSOD, when I rebooted there were still no .dmp files. The folder was empty. Any thoughts?

OK,

Still getting Blue Screen Stop Errors... there seems to be no .dmp or .mdpm anywhere.

using event viewer I found these errors in the Application part

"Error 2/3/2011 12:35:48 PM Microsoft-Windows-LoadPerf 3011 None Unloading the performance counter strings for service WmiApRpl (WmiApRpl) failed. The first DWORD in the Data section contains the error code.
Error 2/3/2011 12:35:48 PM Microsoft-Windows-LoadPerf 3012 None The performance strings in the Performance registry value is corrupted when process Performance extension counter provider. The BaseIndex value from the Performance registry is the first DWORD in the Data section, LastCounter value is the second DWORD in the Data section, and LastHelp value is the third DWORD in the Data section."

And also from the System tab:

"Critical 2/3/2011 12:13:07 AM Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power 41 (63) The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."

"Error 2/3/2011 12:13:20 AM EventLog 6008 None The previous system shutdown at 12:11:19 AM on ‎2/‎3/‎2011 was unexpected."

Any new help would be very helpful, thanks
Geoff

***Edit*** Last BSOD I entered in Safe Mode with Networking and tried to install software but still crashed with the same code.

Try system file checker:
Right click cmd.exe → run as administrator → sfc /scannow

First, I want to thank everyone who helped me work through this. Every comment was thoughtful and meaningful, and everyone was very patient walking me through each step, so thank you!

So I decided to remove my 1TB SATA 6Gb/s HD and install the new 500GB SATA 3Gb/s one and installed 7 on the new drive. There were zero issues, everything loaded perfectly and cleanly, and I’ve been running it for several hours now with no crashing. I think I had a bad HD, SATA 6Gb/s cable, or motherboard port. (my new project is to figure out which)

Everything is running very fast, and no problems. Installed all my updates and much of the software I want.

I'd say that the 1TB SATA HDD is faulty, bad sectors, etc...

Glad you got the problem fixed!

Let us know if you need anything else.
