Hello,

I'm new to this forum and I have some troubles, around 1 week ago I upgraded my whole computer expect my GPU but when I play any game, it doesn't matter which one, from Terraria to Skyrim to Far cry 4, I all get a bluescreen in around 30-45 minutes with the error: 0x00000124

My specs are:
Motherboard: Asus H 97-PLUS
CPU: Intel i5 4460
GPU: Radeon HD 6850 (I will upgrade this one in the future)
Memory: 4x 2GB DDR3
PSU: XFX TS 550W
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bits
HDD: WD 1TB and Samsung 500GB

These are all new expect the GPU.

I attached the SF logs.
I hope this issue can be fixed.

Regards,
Chris

I don't know how to analyze crash dumps, but from a quick search, I would say there's two options:

1. Your GPU drivers are out of date

Try updating your graphics drivers (while you're at it, update DirectX too). If that doesn't help, boot Windows without Driver Signature Enforcement (hold F8 when turning on the PC and choose this option), then see if the issue persists, because if it does:

2. Your hardware is overheating

This error appears due to a fatal hardware error and might be related to either faulty hardware or heat problems. If the previous steps don't work, you need to shut down your PC, unplug it from the power source, check all the cables on both ends and make sure your hardware is being cooled properly.

Hi,

Thanks for responding, I installed this driver for my GPU here: Download Drivers
I'm not sure it is enough?

About overheating, this is possible.
on CPUID HWMonitor it shows my AMD Radeon Hd 6850 is between 42 and 50 degrees when i'm not gaming! I guess thats pretty high?

The WD 1TB is when i'm not gaming is ~46 degrees but weird enough my CPU is ~34 degrees when i'm not gaming and my motherboard ~30 degrees.

I have an Scythe Shuriken Rev. B fan on my CPU, on the side I have an Aerocool shark 120mm and on the back a Cooler Master Silent Fan 120 SI1 120mm.

Note that I only get a bluescreen when i'm gaming even with very low demanding games like Terraria.

Regards,
Chris

Your logs only contain one dump file so it's not really that much to work with, not that 0x124s generally give out much information anyway. Your single dump file gives away nothing unfortunately.

The best thing to do to try and narrow down the problem would be to follow the steps below, these may help identify the problem.

:warn: If you're overclocking your system, revert back to stock clocks now. :warn:

:ar: Run Prime95 to stress test your CPU. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-hardware-stress-test-prime95.html

   Warning
Your CPU temperatures will rise quickly while under this stress test. Keep a keen eye on them.

:ar: Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

   Note
MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

:ar: Run SeaTools to check the integrity of your HDD. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/313457-seatools-dos-windows-how-use.html

:ar: Run Furmark to stress test your GPU. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100356-video-card-stress-test-furmark.html

   Note
Run Furmark for around 30 minutes.

   Warning
Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them.

I did the Prime95 for around 1.20 hours, all tests passed, temperature was stable at around 65-67 degrees.
I also did Furmark for 30 minutes and the temperature was stable at 77 degrees and this was with all fans at full power! and there was also a pretty burned smell, I will try to play a game now with my fans much higher then normal to see if I still get a bluescreen.
and I will do the MemTest86+ later since it will take a lot of time.

Chris

I'd be tempted to take the side off the case and have a look inside if you can smell burning, that's not right at all.

I checked and nothing is damaged, atleast as far as I can see, maybe it is some dust?

It could well be, you'll need to clean any out if there is any in there. Complete the tests at your convenience and report back.

I want to let you know I don't get blue screens anymore (for now) but my computer just freezes when I'm playing for like 40 minutes and then from my speakers some weird sound is coming, when I restart my computer and I play again then after like 10 minutes it freezes again (only when playing a game), do you think that this is my GPU? or it is maybe some kind of driver that is conflicting?

Only the Seatools and both of my harddrives passed, I will do the Memtest this night if I don't forget it again.

But bad news, I got a bluescreen again... same error, I attached the dump file.

EDIT: When I was playing Skyrim for like 45 minutes, my computer suddenly shut down, no bluescreen or any other error....

Have you completed the other hardware tests? If not, complete them - uploading new .dmp files is pointless until those tests have been completed.

Alright here is the thing, I changed my old HDD and I have like 90% less bluescreens, so I guess that was the main problem, but still when I'm playing heavy games my computer freezes, shuts downs without any error and sometimes a bluescreen (only got 1 for now), my GPU is Radeon HD 6850, I did the test twice for 30 minutes with Furmark and there were no problems, but still when I'm playing a game for example Skyrim, I can play for like 1 hour, after that it freezes, when I restart my computer and start the game again, my computer shuts down after 5 minutes, so I guess it is overheat? still when I restart my computer I can see the GPU is like 50 degrees, but I guess it will cool down very quick after I restart.

Hope someone can advice me further.
