Solved BSOD when playing music on Spotify while Livestreaming, Event ID 41

Alrighty!!

I've got my new charger in the mail. So far my laptop is functioning way better! It is staying cooler with the new charger too. I haven't been electrocuted and it hasn't shut off on me. I literally just got the charger a few minutes ago so it's really too soon to say if my problem is fixed. Will update again.

Yeah, so far so good. The REAL test is the idle time while I'm sleeping.

I like to leave my laptop on often. I cut it off once in a while to give it a break and I certainly have been lately. I have a nice elevated stand with a laptop cushion for my lap. Will update again!

According to event 6008 it lost power somehow? Was the charger connected while it was shut down? I'm thinking if not the battery run down.
If you have a w7 DVD you can try booting it and doing a Startup repair. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html

The battery certainly didn't run down. It was plugged in at the time. Btw, what does the Windows DVD do? I can't erase my hard drive since I don't have the necessary things to back it up. So, if I launch Startup Repair, will it tell me if it detects something wrong? I'll try it...

Will w7 start up at all, even Safe mode? Tapping F8 during booting will bring up Advanced Startup Options, select Safe Mode.

Yes, it starts up fine only after I've taken out the battery and unplugged the charger for a second or two. But the issue is it keeps shutting off randomly. New battery and NOW I have a new charger. It's got no business doing this. :'(

So, I got that SuperAntiSpyware thing I saw in your signature. Ran it. Found 40 spyware. One of which was in my system registry. Well. I did what it wanted. So far, my laptop has NOT shut off randomly. Now it's a waiting game AGAIN. Will definitely let you know if it shuts off randomly again.

SuperAntiSpyware is a good scanner, you might give the MalwareBytes a try to. Caution when installing be sure to UNcheck the 30 day free trial. Update it and run a full scan.

No more BSODs so far? It may well have been Spotify and it could have downloaded some crapware as well.

I instinctively ran Malwarebytes and updated it. Came up with malware. Deleted it. Now I'm running Security Essentials. No, no bluescreens. At all. Just the previously stated shutting off which so far for this short time period since I got the anti spyware thing is a past event.

Oh, and I have Premium, LOL. I don't even need to worry about the trial.

Will tell you the MS Essentials scan results. Then I'm gonna run CCleaner to clean up where that Spyware was removed from the registry. Let's see how long my laptop can last this time.


Btw, can spyware in the registry cause it to shut off like it's been doing? I'm exploring ALL possibilities here.

Microsoft Security Essentials finished scanning. No viruses are on my computer.

Oh, did I mention when I ran the spyware scan on my computer and got rid of the spyware, my laptop cooled down even MORE? True story.


Now it's a waiting game. Do tell me if the spyware (particularly the one bugging the registry) could have been causing my laptop to randomly shut off. I would love to know.

It is possible crapware could cause the random shutdowns, but I think it's rare. What may have been happening, since you mentioned heat, is that the crap could have been doing some processes in the background and caused overheating. It's a long-shot possibility. That is why some malware will cause a PC to run very slowly.

If you want do the following, but for now just do the search part and post the log so I can see if there is anything in the registry.

Save to the desktop.

Close all open programs.
To run the program, right-click AdwCleaner.exe and select: Run as Administrator

Click on Search and confirm the prompt.

Run AdwCleaner once again.
This time click on: Delete

Oh, btw. Babylon is safe. It's a translator. Could you maybe look into it to see if it's really not as safe as I claim? I'm almost certain it is.

My laptop's an MSi make though. Has there been any issues with MSi laptops using Babylon? I'm glad you're asking for some expertise on it though. I use Babylon so much and I had it activated too. Either way, since I used the SUPERAntiSpyware program, my laptop still has yet to randomly shut off. It also got more stable and even COOLER when I ran that scan that got rid of those things that were hiding in processes. It's still a waiting game though.

WHU-OH. HOLY CRAP. I just ran another scan with my anti Spyware program after holding ctrl+shift+t for too long when I opened Chrome since my Chrome refused to restore my tabs and didn't recognize my preferences (after the crapware scan) and now I've got 95 and counting spyware!!! :O I think I'm gonna get the premium of SUPERAntiSpyware so I can have spyware blocking on websites...


HEYYYYYY... They keep infecting my default cookies in Chrome! NOT fair!


...See, I am really glad I don't save passwords on my laptop itself or in Chrome's save password option. This would be a disaster if I did.
