Just to clarify, I am not overclocking the video card. All that was altered was the fan speed.

Well, it started while playing starcraft. Then I reinstalled Windows and did not reinstall Starcraft because the BSOD persisted even tho SC2 was not installed. I do not have any other games installed.

You crash analysis above shows a USB device caused the crash. What USB devices do you have plugged into your system?

Do some USB troubleshooting.
  • Start with http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/165554-usb-driver-general-fix-problems.html to resolve the USB issues. Also, USB ports can sometimes enter a safe power state to protect the system from power surges due to USB devices. To reset the USB ports to a nominal power state:
    1. Shut down and turn off the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
    3. "Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
    4. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
    5. (If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
    6. Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

Is your system under warranty still?

When you say it does not boot, do you mean it does not turn on, it gets stuck at the post screen, it get stuck starting Windows, it start Windows and you log on but that is as far as it gets, etc.? Please give more details as to the boot issue you see.

If the system will not turn on, this would indicate a likely PSU failure is imminent. I suspect you have a hardware issue, so if you still have a Warranty, contact HP and have the system repaired. If you no longer have a warranty, we can provide further troubleshooting steps based on the details to the boot problem.

Regarding the boot problems, its only after BSOD that I have trouble getting Windows to boot. Itll get stuck at different places.

Ill have to check on the warranty, should I consider replacing the machine through HP?

If you are still under warranty, send it to HP and they will determine the best course of action. Typically, freezing during boot means there is something wrong with the system's hardware. To be sure, carefully go through the steps in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219533-troubleshooting-windows-7-failure-boot.html to determine if there is something wrong with Windows and its ability to boot or if the system has a virus.

Thank you to everyone that took time to help. Definitely a wonderful resource to have when problems arise.

Contacted HP, the PC is still under warranty and they will be repairing it at no charge. Crossing my fingers for a brand new tower.

Thanks again!
