Solved BSOD when Stress Testing, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT 0x0000001a

Hello,

I have recently been stress testing my system to ensure that it is 100% stable before i proceed to overclocking. I first ran P-95 a couple of times and each time i got a BSOD after about 10 minutes. I thought i fresh install of windows would fix the problem, so i tried that. No luck, i tried running prime again and although it lasted 9 hours compared to 10 minutes, i still got the same BSOD (MEMORY_MANAGEMENT 0x0000001a). I ran P-95 again and it only lasted about an hour the second time with a different BSOD (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Aiid0z

Aiden, we need to check the RAM - Bugcheck 50's are usually memory issues.

Run a minimum of 8 passes of MemTest86+ - I recommend leaving it to run overnight. Any errors will be highlighted in RED.

I also recommend a quick run of Intel Burn Test:

That red line indicates an error - what you need to do now is to determine whether its the RAM chip or motherboard slot.

Insert one RAM chip into motherboard RAM slot 1, and run 8 passes. If no errors occur, insert the same RAM chip into slot 2 and run again. Repeat for all motherboard slots. If no errors occur, then it means that RAM chip is good, as are the motherboard slots. Now repeat the exercise for the remaining RAM chips, one at a time, testing them in slot 1 only, until you find the culprit.

I've seen some reports of MemTest86+ freezing on test #7 when using all CPU cores (see MemTest86+ forum). I would recommend not using that method for the time being. It may take longer, but at least you get a result.

Hello,

Thanks for the tip Britton :) I have ran the first module in the first DIMM slot and got an error during the second pass, about to test the second module in the first DIMM slot.

EDIT: Just saw Goldens post about the cores, I'll leave it with one core for the next test.

Thanks,
Aiid0z

Hello,

Just checked back on memtest, 9 passes with no errors. I guess this means that DIMM module #1 is faulty and I should get an RMA? Should I also run prime 95 again to confirm that the memory was the problem? (this time with only the 1 good module?)

Thanks,
Aiid0z

No its not necessary to test with Prime95 - check the remaining RAM, and RMA the faulty ones.
