Bsod when trying to play games that require a graphics card

I have been getting bsods all the time when i try to run games that require video cards, it usually bsods at a point where it trys to render 3d objects. Even though my computer specs are good enough to play them, it still occurs. only games which do not require directx(only requires generic pnp monitor), will not bsod my computer.

Crashes indicate Avira being a possible cause. Remove Avira and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials to see if it provides more stability. :info: Uninstallers (removal tools) for common antivirus software

Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes are recommended from a strict BSOD perspective. They do not cause blue screens on the system as other AV products do.

Also remove Ad-aware antivirus. You shouldn't be running two real time antivirus software.

Download and install Revo Uninstaller free from here: Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware

Opt for "Advanced Mode" and uninstall the software (also delete the leftover registry entries).

Update the Intel Graphics driver to its latest version available: Driver Reference Table - igdkmd64.sys

Start up
Keep less stuff at the start-up. Only anti-virus, this helps avoid driver conflicts and improves time to log in to windows.

Memtest86+
Run Memtest86+ for at least 8-10 passes. It may take up to 20 passes to find problems. Make sure to run it once after the system has been on for a few hours and is warm, and then also run it again when the system has been off for a few hours and is cold.

Pay close attention to part 3 of the tutorial in order to rule the faulty RAM stick out.

For errors on your Hard drive(s): Disk Check

Heat:
-Only use the laptop on a hard surface with nothing blocking any of the vents.
-Use a laptop cooling pad if possible
-Blow out all vents with canned air (DO NOT use a vacuum cleaner or an air compressor, they can damage the components).
-Ensure that the fan comes on and is blowing air out of the vent (may not happen at startup, but should happen after using it for a while).

System Temperature

Ensure that there are no heat issues, For monitoring heat of the system use Piriform - Speccy or Hardware Monitorhttp://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Hey KoolKat77, I have done all the things you have suggested except for 1 thing, the graphics card. I downloaded the most recent update from intel, but i couldn't update it. It replied me with an error. Another thing is, memtest86+ returned me with 7 passes over 8 hours. And i am sure that my system is not experiencing heat issues.However, with all of this said, my computer will still bsod if it tries to render 3D objects. Here is an updated dump file if you need it.

It is an Acer Aspire 4736Z laptop, which sadly means, I cannot change the video card.

Is it under warranty?
When did you last reinstall windows on this laptop?

The bsods only occur after a few seconds of 3d rendering. Anything that is 2d or does not require a graphics card to run will not result in a bsod. My laptop is old so the warrenty is expired. My uncle brought this laptop to the computer manufacturer to update vista to windows 7 about a year ago, so there is no installation disk.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

Seatool for dos: SeaTools | Seagate download. Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.

Is the computer hot during 3D rendering? Report us the heat of the computer after some 3D rendering. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy.

Let us know the results.
BTW, a laptop with 3 GB of RAM is not a very efficient platform to render 3D.

erm. apparently my cd drive doesnt work if i haven't booted into windows( even the button the the cd drive doesnt work) i can only eject my cds using the eject function of windows. even after changing my boot sequence to cd drive first it still doesnt work. May i use the seatools for windows instead?

Dismantle the computer. Clean the inside carefully. Clean the air vents and fan grills (including the CPU's fan) so that it can blow the hot air out efficiently. When re-seating, apply new thermal paste to the CPU.



Let us know after all it is done, with another speccy screenshot.

** If you cannot do it, get it done by any technician nearabout, or take it to a servicing center, but it is a must to do here.

Also plan to use a cooling pad for laptops.

I ran memtest again for 18 hours and got 16 passes and 0 errors. and i can't apply thermal paste because im a 13 year old kid with no freedom and can't find any thermal paste nor servicing centres.

If the computer works good other than the 3D rendering part, it indicates that is is beyond its ability with 3 GB RAM and Intel Chipset Graphics. It is the limitation provided by the hardware specification.

Then i have a question, when i use google chrome to watch youtube, it will bsod after loading the video. If i use mozilla firefox or internet explorer to watch youtube, it works perfectly.what is wrong with my laptop?

I can Confirm that my machine can actually run 3d games. Using the swiftshader(SwiftShader | TransGaming Inc.), i could run 3d but at low frames because it is not using my video card. Is there a way which i can use my graphics card to run games instead of using a modded shader ( it is slow as it is just using my pc to render, not my graphics card)
