Solved BSOD whenever I try to Uninstall HitManPro Alert

Hi Ladies and Gents, A little assistance here please... I have been trying to uninstall Hitmanpro Alert (HMPA)

I have tried going the normal route- Control Panel - Programs and Features- Picked out HMPA from list, hight light- right click- Uninstall.....the split second I click on Uninstall- Bang... BSOD

I have done this twice just to make sure..

I have also tried going through the CCleaner uninstall utility. Exactly the same BSOD when I click on Uninstall.

The fourth time I tried to unistall HMPA, I used a 3rd party Unistaller.. Total-Uninstaller, I D/L the program, ran the EXE file, it installed perfectly. I even rebooted my PC so the Total-Uninstaller could have a fresh start. When I opened the T-U program it asked me to highlight from a list the program to be unistalled. I highlighted HMPA and clicked the "Scan" button the T-U program froze.. I then had a flash from Windows come up the U-T had stopped working and has to close....

I have attached a zip file as per posting instructions. I will look back in an hour or so.

Can I just add that I have had this laptop 10 years and it has NEVER had a BSOD before..

Hello again Deane mate the dumps are showing something to do with the Hitman drivers I don't know quite what though because the listing we have for dumps has not got that exact one in it

Now try Revo mate much better than the Control Panel method as it is more through in the registry
Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems
< the free one is ok

If that doesn't work then we might have to try something else.

Update Windows first, only a few hotfixes have been installed while there should be several.

Hi Guys
Bad news, I let the Widows Updater do its thing restarted several times. Windows is up to date.. Next I D/L Revo Uninstaller saved it to my Downloads File, Clicked and installed perfectly. I even read the User guide so I knew what I was doing.. Went into Uninstaller Mode, Highlighted HMPA, It ran for a few seconds. Then a box appeared "Did I want to Uninstall HMPA ?" The instant I clicked on Yes- BANG - BSOD straight away... Any thing else I can try Guys let me know. Do you want me to do another Zip of BSOD ? Ill be happy to

Hi Xldeane,

AV's are a pain.
They usually have a self protection mode, this may be stalling the uninstall.
Sounds odd but i think your best bet is to try and re-install it, then check its settings options.

I've not seen its settings GUI, but if theres a "pause/turn off" use it, then uninstall
I would also do it in Safe mode

The Hitman is no longer with us ..

I purchased Revo Uninstaller Pro.. Turned on HitmanPro Alert. When he was half way throuh a scan. I set the Unistaller on him. No BSOD and No HMPA..

It seems to me that I only visist this forum when im in the ..... I will make an effort to visit more and try to take part...

Yes that is good Deane and mate when you get more comfortable with the registry for example there are ways of getting rid of stuff that the ordinary uninstallers will or cannot.
But in any case posting in here is not seen as a nuisance mate we all have been thought these trials and tribulations but there are quite a few of the basic tutorials that would be good for you to have a look at.
Now take a look at this if I have posted it before in your threads it is the must have tutorial

Just a little something that will make your machine a little faster and more efficient is this Optimize Windows 7 - Windows 7 Help Forums
It is my bible when installing an OS on my machines and also when I am fixing friends and family machines too.
Now if you go through it slowly you will find lots of tweaks and they are all really thoroughly done by the authour Brink a fellow who is in my mind brilliant and if you need to ask questions he is just the most obliging person around.
The other thing is that you may lose some of the "bling" such as transparency (you don't have to I find it unnecessary) and all the tweaks are reversible.
If you do get stuck just post back in that tutorial and you will get help. Another bonus using this tutorial is that it helps you find your way around your machine and Windows 7!
Just one tip I would say you start with is do this Registry - Backup and Restore - Windows 7 Help Forums do this and it will save you a lot of grief if you are ever doing things in the registry and even if you don't it is a good back up to have if your system ever gets corrupted.
