Solved BSOD while browsing the internet, new to this please help.

okay so I've had trouble with my laptop before, this is the 2nd time. The first time I had what seem to be a hard drive crash. I had a black screen and the laptop was not responsive so I manually rebooted the laptop only to not boot up at all. I sent it back to get fixed because it was under warranty still, and still is. This laptop is new! But now I've encountered the bsod. I'm new to this so I'm not sure on what to do, but I've followed the steps as provided. I'm not sure what could be the problem. Please help!

also I'm using a lenovo g570 64 bit laptop running windows 7. I don't download stuff often but I have used torrents..and downloaded a dll crack file. I have deleted it all though after the first incident. anyhow I can provide any more info if needed about my system but any help would be appreciated. my laptop is only 4 months old!

Can you tell us what antivirus you're using?

Your dump comes with bugcheck 50 and doesn't provide much information....its usual causes are:

STOP 0x00000050: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA  
Usual causes:  Defective hardware (particularly memory - but not just RAM), Faulty system service, Antivirus,  Device driver, NTFS corruption, BIOS
BugCheck 50, {ffffd47edb5f7ffe, 0, fffff80002ecb05c, 7}
Could not read faulting driver name
Probably caused by : memory_corruption ( nt!MiCaptureProtectionFromProto+1c )

You may want to start with memtest if you like

Take memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes

The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Check your motherboard manual to ensure the RAM sticks are in the recommended motherboard slots. Some motherboards have very specific slots required for the number of RAM sticks installed.

If you get errors, stop the test and continue with the next step.

1. Remove all but one stick of RAM from your computer (this will be RAM stick #1), and run Memtest86 again, for 7 passes.
Be sure to note the RAM stick, use a piece of tape with a number, and note the motherboard slot.
If this stick passes the test then go to step #3.

2. If RAM stick #1 has errors, repeat the test with RAM stick #2 in the same motherboard slot.
If RAM stick #2 passes, this indicates that RAM stick #1 may be bad. If you want to be absolutely sure, re-test RAM stick #1 in another known good slot.
If RAM stick #2 has errors, this indicates another possible bad RAM stick, a possible motherboard slot failure or inadequate settings.
3. Test the next stick of RAM (stick #2) in the next motherboard slot.
If this RAM stick has errors repeat step #2 using a known good stick if possible, or another stick.
If this RAM stick has no errors and both sticks failed in slot#1, test RAM stick #1 in this slot.
4. If you find a stick that passes the test, test it in all the other motherboard slots.

If Part 2 testing shows errors, and all tests in Part 3 show errors, you will need to test the RAM sticks in another computer and/or test other RAM in your computer to identify the problem.

In this way, you can identify whether it is a bad stick of RAM, a bad motherboard, or incompatibility between the sticks.

well my laptop comes with mcafee antivirus protection although I removed the main program and only use mcafee site advisor. Also could it be that it didn't show much because I didn't do a complete or mini dump but did kernel instead??

And I did the memtest but I have no blank cds.. I think the bsod may be caused by utorrent which I also removed before using the SF diagnostic tool.

I need the mini dumps so its okay. Btw, please remove McAfee from your system if you haven't already. It contributes in BSODs very often.

Make scans with the following:

Run this tool and delete anything it finds:

• Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller

ESET online scanner:

• Free Online Virus Scanner | ESET

I just changed the option in startup and recovery from kernel to small memory dump and did the minidump using SF diagnostic tool. Also I deleted McAfee siteadvisor tool so there is no longer any McAfee tool on my laptop any longer. Thank you so much for your help also! Is there anything else I would perhaps need to do?

I also downloaded the rootkit scanner and came up with 0 threats. I haven't had the bsod since last night.

Run the System File Checker that scans the of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed/modified, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible:

Recommended antivirus program for Windows 7 based on stability compared to others:-

• Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
• Malwarebytes - The Free version

Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

Run a full scan with both (separately) once downloaded, installed and updated.
