If I'm connected to the internet via a router everything works fine.

When I put the cable directly into the computer, then set up the PPoE connection, when connecting I get a BSOD with the following message:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (ndis.sys)

I use Win 8 x64. I realise this is Win 7 forums but I really could use some help guys.

Cheers.

I've been trying to get a complete memory dump. I modified the system settings but no memory.dmp file is being created by the system. I've been checking for it after the BSODs. I chose to create a complete dump but the file is never there. Page file is set to 4500 mbs (4 GB RAM) so that isn't the problem?

A minidump would be enough I think; if accompanied by the other files as per the posting instructions.

So it is windows 8.

Here RAS PPPoE mini-port/call-manager driver (a system element) is failing. It is failing due to malfunctioning Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC driver.
Code:
BugCheck D1, {29, 2, 0, fffff88001ab91da}

And, the Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC driver is very old.

Update it from Realtek .

Let us know the results.

Tried to update the network drivers via installer. Then copy and pasted the drivers in the system32/drivers folders just to be sure. Result is the same. Just to confirm I didn't mess it up, I verified the file version of rtnic64.sys

File version is 6.111.723.2009 as per the latest version on the site.

The file is updated though .....

    Loaded symbol image file: Rtnic64.sys

But the update is not an update actually, that you can see. May be realtek discontinued with this device.

In that situation, it will be better to have an alternative network adapter.
