Hey! I got the ol' BSOD (MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION) while doing some torrent downloading and web surfing. I just installed a new OS (Win7) and BIOS, and was experiencing quite a few crashes before when I upgraded to Win10.

My specs:

MSI GX740
i5 - 430M 2.33
Win7 SP1
4GB RAM
HDD in CDROM Bay
SSD in main bay

DUMP included

If someone can shed some light on this I'd appreciate it!

Thanks
Jason

If Update isn't showing any available to download, where can I find them?

Microsoft provides updates, you can find them somewhere on the site of Microsoft. I have never installed any updates not via Windows Update except for 1 update so I don't know where exactly to look.

How many times have you tried to search? Sometimes updates will show after a few attempts.

I just installed Windows a couple of days ago so I'll give it some time to see if any pop up. So far only that one crash, seems to be stable! Thanks for your input!

The 0x9C(MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION) is a hardware error generally speaking, hardware references mostly to
  • hardware damage
  • improper seating
  • overheating
  • dust
I would check regularly for updates until you're sure you're up to date, they fix various of problems and makes a system more stable at least.
