That's the correct one for your graphics card. I asked because it appears the problem is with an ATI file. I don't have time right now to look further. Will try to get to you later.

Did you have this problem before you updated to the Crimson driver?

If you temporarily disable the driver for your graphic card, do you still get the BSOD?

Hello. I don't know what a crimson driver is. I don't think i have it. I haven't disabled the graphics card as it won't stay on the desktop screen long enough for me to disable it. It goes too quick to the blue screen

You said you have the Crimson Edition 16.2.1 Beta so I assume you understood what I was talking about. Did you install it?

To disable your graphics card driver, go to Control Panel, Device Manager, Display Adapters. Double click on your graphics card name. In the Driver tab, select Disable. Apply. You'll be running on the mobo graphics chipset so you might not have the same screen display resolution.

Hello. I don't have a crimson edition, I never mentioned it and I don't know what it is. Anyway, I followed your suggestion to disable the graphics card (nvidia 610gt) I managed to do it before it went to a blue screen but no luck it booted up then went to the blue screen again after about a minute. Then I managed a reboot and removed the video card from device manager, but it went to blue screen again. So it appears to not be the video card. Now I'll have a hard time re installing it via the cd as it keeps going to blue screen quite quickly

I was referencing the response in post #3 in regards to the graphics driver. I didn't realize you aren't the original author of this thread and you jumped in so, I don't know what your actual problem is. Would you explain it in more detail and whether or not you can get to Safe Mode. Probably should have been a new thread.

For BSOD's, you should follow the instructions here-
Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

As a new user l couldn't find where to start a new thread. I can get safe mode but it still goes to a bsod. I disabled the video card but still does it. I took a couple of photos of what's going on, maybe that will assist

To post a new thread, click on the appropriate section of the forum, e.g.; click on General Discusssion. In Forum Tools, click on post a new thread.

You still haven't identified what the actual problem is (other than it goes to BSOD).

I don't see any photos.

Please perform the procedure I mentioned in my last post and post the resulting .zip file. It's the only way we're going to get close to finding a solution to your problem.

Wonder where probuddha is?

Hello Wither2. I don't know why it's going bsod, it even does it in safe mode. I'll try to put a couple of photos on. Maybe that will help. I couldn't upload photos. It said the page couldn't handle the request. It was only .jpg file

Are you saying that when you go to Safe Mode, it immediately goes to the BSOD so you can't do anything?

Do you have any external devices connected to the system? If so, try disconnecting them.

Your system specs don't really show your system details. If it's a desktop, I suggest reseating the memory sticks and the graphics card.

Hello. I can get it into safe mode and cmd prompt but it only stays in safe mode a few minutes then goes to bsod. No external devices connected. I've had the memory sticks out to clean the contacts. Its a gigabyte mb and nvidia video card. The C drive is about 10 years old, ide type. D drive just storage. It doesn't seem to boot of C drive, I've been booting directly off the win7 disc. Its been doing that for a long time without much trouble. I've tired different things so don't know what it could be

The problem described in the BSOD is generally a hardware problem and like every other error around, is sometimes a driver problem. Since it's happening in Safe Mode, could be the hard drive or RAM.

Under the circumstances, I don't know if you could run memtest96 to check your RAM, although it would be desirable.

Can't you boot using the hard drive instead of running the disc?

If I try to boot off the hdd it just hangs on the initial dos screen so I've had to make the cd first boot device then it used to boot up ok until the bsod started happening. The C drive is 10 years old and it's possible that is the problem. Can I put memtest on a usb drive? If I can then I have to get the darn thing to stay in safe mode long enough to run it before it crashes. It certainly won't do it in normal. It often crashes 10 secs after boot up

Well, I've had to replace two hard drives on this system which is 11 years old and it sounds like your drive is kaput.

You can run memtest86 from a flash drive.

I installed memtest on a flash drive from a laptop and put it in the faulty pc but memtest seemed to want to run a test on the usb. I got it running in safe mode for about 5 min but wasn't sure what tests to do in that short time. You could be right in that the hdd is kaput. Would it be possible that the operating system on the hdd is corrupt and how to check?
