I've been experiencing BSODs while using a GTX 760 that I purchased 2 months ago, which I RMA'd and received a new card yesterday, and started experiencing them again. I was using an old GTX 470 that worked fine and gave me no BSODs. With both GPU's, I've tried new drivers as well as confirmed they're not overheating.
These BSOD are caused both when the GPU is stressed and when I'm merely browsing or watching videos.

The dump files from Mar 4/5 were from CPU overclocking testing, and I changed my OC from 4.2ghz to 4.0 and still experience BSODs.

i have an i5-4670k, 750w PSU, Gigabyte Z87 LGA 1150

Disable overclocking totally. If still the 10000007e/00000124/00000116 continues to occur, you know the solution.

700 series GPUs are resource hungry, and unstable.

I disabled the overclock and ran furmark and it crashed within 10 seconds, saying the drivers failed and have recovered. I have gotten this message with both new cards and have tried new drivers to no avail.

Then it is a failure from the part of the GPU.

Get it replaced once again.

If the results are the same, use one GPU below 700 series.

I find it hard to believe that 2 different cards both crash for me, that would be complete shit luck.

No mate, dont think this way.

May be it is a batch of GPUs that is faulty.
May be the GPU is not actually replaced by the vendor.
May be your computer is not able to carry the 700 series GPU.

The possibility of a corrupt PCIe port is also there, but some other GPU worked fine in that slot. So this one can be ignored.

I know it was replaced since it was a completely different version of the card, and I believe 750W for my setup should be more than enough for a single 760, especially when the CPU isn't OC'd anymore.

Could it be a glitch with MSI Afterburner? Look at the max power % and the GPU usage, that's what it went to when the drivers failed.

MSI Afterburner may cause such a problem.

As you think in this line, uninstall it and see if it changes the situation. :)

uninstalled afterburner, installed evga precision, began furmark, a minute later my pc would freeze for 4-10 seconds, and unfreeze, and then freeze again
do any of the bug check codes lead to an underlying problem that could lead to a conclusion other than the card is faulty, again?

Bugcheck codes does not say that much. It indicates to a display failure.

Furmark says that the GPU is faulty.

could anyone try to see if there's an underlying problem besides the GPU being faulty?

I put the card in my old computer, played CSGO and ran furmark for 45 minutes, no issues at all. I don't know what's wrong with my GPU, the last 2 BSODs I had happened as soon as I booted. The majority of the BSODs were caused from dxgkrnl.sys +5d140.

If the GPU works good on any other computer, then you try to apply some other version of the display driver.

If the situation is the same with any other version of the display driver, apply any other GPU.

If the situation is still the same, then we will consider that the PCIe slot is failing.

worked fine for about a week straight, now i'm getting driver failure messages numerous times a day and got a complete restart once with bug check code 0x10000007e
I put the same GPU in my old computer and ran furmark for a couple of hours with no failure before this incident and couldn't get the card to BSOD.

Another GTX 760 .......

And unfortunately I dont know any driver version that works good with GTX 700 series. You may try the drivers on a trial and error basis:

  • 320.49 WHQL
  • 327.23 WHQL
  • 331.58 WHWL
  • 331.65 WHQL
  • 331.82 WHQL
  • 332.21 WHQL
  • Any driver version released later
Get them from Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Do a clean install on all of them. Uninstall the previously installed driver first.
Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features
    • 3D Vision Control Driver
    • 3D Vision Driver
    • Graphics Driver
    • HD Audio Driver
    • PhysX
    • nvidia Update
    • GeForce Experience
(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
  • Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
  • Download the target WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:

Lengthy process, but the only stable version of nvidia is 314.22 lately, which does not support 700 series GPU.
