BSOD while playing online games, Stop error 0x0000003B

Hi everyone, I have an Asus A43S

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2430M CPU @ 2.40GHz 8GB RAM
nvidia gt 540m (updated to latest driver that was available on their website)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
it is also an OEM version.

I received a BSOD with stop error 0x0000003B when playing an online game. I've played this game many times on this laptop without this error up till now. I've attached the mini dump file in this post but i did not attach the perfmon /report however because I would receive an error saying that the data collection has timed out.

I really hope you guys can help me out with this problem I'm having.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

Please attach the DMP files to your next post not to post one.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.
If empty (or non existent) please look in the following folders. C:\windows (the dmp should be called memory.dmp), and C:\windows\LiveKernelReports\Watchdog.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Anyways, I did as you suggested and I have attached the zipped folder hopefully with the DMP file inside.

It also BSOD recently as I was playing the same online game. I had Malware bytes running in the background and tried logging in to Spotify when the BSOD occured. Guess I'm just running too many programs.

If there's anything amiss do let me know so that I can provide you with the necessary information to help me solve this problem.

If this is the only crash you have had I am not sure I would even worry about it. If they happen often I would do the following

First update this driver from 2008. Related to ASMMAP64.sys Memory mapping Driver from ASUS

How To Find Drivers:

- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
Driver Reference Table (DRT)

If you want to keep looking leave verifier running and upload any DMP files that are created.

You can make sure it is (verifier) on correctly by typing verifier /query. If it tells you no drivers, it isnt set up correctly.

I note you have AVG.

AVG can be a contributing cause of BSOD'S .

I suggest you remove it and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

I uninstalled AVG as JMH said using the programs in the last post but I'm having trouble trying to find the update for the ASMMAP64.sys driver.

Do you guys know where I can find it?

It may not have a newer version. It is used by ASUS, lenovo, and a few others. If there is no newer driver you may be able to get away with installing it in "compatibility mode"

Right click the installer>properties>compatibility>Choose vista.

I tried finding the installer for this driver but no luck. I did find the aforementioned driver in my laptop but there wasn't a compatibility tab in the properties section that allowed me to install it in compatibility mode though.

As for whether my mobo is win 7 compatible I'm guessing that it is. My laptop came pre-installed with windows 7 on the day that I purchased it.

It may be a part of the Asus utility disk that came with computer. The installer would be there.
