Hello,

I've receive multiple BSOD on my fairly new computer. Some times I received a Bccode 116, other times I do not. I have restored an earlier version on windows. I have deleted video drivers, both manually and with DDU. I have then reinstalled various drivers to help remedy the situation. my computer consists of:

Gigabyte G1 Sniper z97
Intel I5 4590
MSI GTX 970 4g
(2) Ripjaws 8g ddr3 1866 MHz
Seasonic 620w psu

I have attached the diagnostic, any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Hi lolfrustrated,

I suggest you run the DM Log Collector tool again and check if the zip contains at least
  • 18 .txt
  • 1 .nfo
  • 1 or more .dmp
files. In most cases it comes in handy to have all the files complete for better analysis.

If the zip doesn't have these files, try booting in safe mode and run the tool again.

Unfortunately the dumps aren't loading properly. Odd as I get that lately very regularly, although my setup is proper and other dumps I can load without any problem.

Please uninstall everything of Nvidia using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from Nvidia. Be sure the clean install box is checked and only install the Graphics driver and the PhysX driver.

Let me know how it goes.

Uninstalled all NVidia drivers then ran DDU. I installed the two drivers (most recent version) as a clean install. I logged into WoW, When I started a pet battle it crashed again. included is the DM log collector ran in safe mode.

I have tried multiple combinations of rolling back drivers with clean install to see if any became corrupted. I even installed the drivers directly from the MSI disk that came with the GPU.

As an added measure I ran Furmark v 1.17 last night for 15 minutes:

FPS 117; Min fps 94; Max fps 119
105,000 frames
temp did not go over 70c

As AA x8:

42 fps
temp did not go over 66c
ran for 5 minutes

During the Furmark test I simply let it run. there was no artifacts.

During the most current BSOD I was again playing World of Warcraft.

When my computer BSod's I am playing WoW. It has never Bsod, during any other operation. The shut down has occurred anywhere from a minute within fully logging in to a couple hours of playing. There is no pattern to what I am doing to when the error occurs. Sometimes I am actively doing a quest or a pet battle, sometimes during raid. Other times I am AFK and the computer restarts.

Is there any particular program running in the background?

Do you have any program or setting that could give a boost?

It appears the problem is solved.

Axe0, thank you for your time and patience; I truly appreciate it.

Recap:

I received multiple BSoD's while playing World of Warcraft. This happened in no particular pattern, anywhere from immediately logging in to playing for a couple of hours. When my computer crashed it would not always give me a 116 code. In addition, sometimes my computer would restart other times I would have to restart it manually with the power button.

to top it off, my computer passed all stress test thrown at it making the event in more confusing.

Solution:

Yesterday I took out the PSU to check it with a multi-meter. When I did so, a motherboard screw fell out. After I checked the PSU, all voltage normal, I placed the screw back into place. I have not had a crash yet.

It seemed that between vigorous game play and a wobbly desk the screw came loose over time, causing a short in the motherboard.

That is also possible, even though it is a graphics issue it could also be something else.

Thank you for reporting your solution :)
