I was just doing some homework on my laptop when it suddenly BSOD. I saw that Intel rapid storage system was involved in the problem and so it shut down. When I turned it on again only the windows logo appeared and it never booted to the login screen. I tried Safe Mode and it doesn't work either. I even tried re-installing my OS again but whenever I try to install it just gets stuck on "Setup is starting". Am I just not patient enough or is my computer dead?

Did you try running Acer Factory Recovery by tapping the F10 key at boot? Acer Support: Frequently Asked Questions list for Recovery media and Restoring a system to factory load

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals, Boot into BIOS setup to see if there is an EFI Boot Disk in BIOS Boot order. If so remove it, set DVD drive first to boot. If EFI BIOS also set to Legacy BIOS. Set SATA controller to AHCI.

Then boot into installer DVD or flash stick, at first screen Press Shift + F10 to open a Command Box, type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SEL DIS 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400
FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="WINDOWS 7"
ACTIVE
EXIT

Next click Install Now to Clean Install Windows 7 to the partition you created. If it fails then report back at which step and the verbatim error message.

In addition read over these steps to understand the tools and methods which work best to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail.

Thanks for the reply gregrocker. But I managed to get into safe mode by running the system recovery tool overnight.

These are my SF Diagnostic tool results. hope this helps

So you're not trying to reinstall any longer? Someone will need to read your crash dump to pinpoint a cause since it's not my specialty.

Meanwhile work through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start
starting with disinfecting to be sure, then SysRestore to before the problem occurred, see what driver or app it rolls back if that solves the prob.

** Follow the steps gregrocker suggested, Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start.

You need to update Intel Graphics driver.
Code:
lmvm igdkmd32
start end module name
8fe08000 906e3000 igdkmd32 T (no symbols)
    Loaded symbol image file: igdkmd32.sys
    Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\igdkmd32.sys
    [COLOR=Red]Image name: igdkmd32.sys
    Timestamp: Fri Apr 30 22:45:03 2010[/COLOR] (4BDB1017)
    CheckSum: 00866AAA
    ImageSize: 008DB000
    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
It is very old. Update it from Intel Download Center.

Free up the startup.

  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
  3. Select the “Startup” tab.
  4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
  5. Apply > OK
  6. Accept the restart.
Uninstall Tuneup Utilities. Though it's name is TuneUp, what can it do is tune it down only.

Uninstall Avast, use Microsoft Security Essentials. Avast is contributing to your crashes.
Code:
9957a70c 8f2c3300Unable to load image \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\aswSP.SYS, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for aswSP.SYS

Uninstall Intel rapid storage, too. It is also crashing there.

  1. Right click on the My Computer icon> Select manage. It will open the computer management window.
  2. Click on the "Device manager" in the left pane.
  3. Expand Disc Drives, by clicking the triangle in front of it..
  4. Select. Right click > Uninstall them all, one by one.
  5. When Done, restart the computer.
  6. On restart, default msahci.sys driver will be auto configured. .
Let us know the results.

Good to know. :)

Now, wait and watch how it runs. If it causes any further issues, let us know. If not, mark the thread as solved.
