Hello everyone, a few months a ago my Laptop hard drive failed on me and I had to replace it with a new one. Today I received a strange BSOD while I was writing a document. Sadly I did not get enough time to write down the error code nor am I knowledgeable on the topic to offer further information for which I am sorry. Any information regarding on the cause of the error or any advice on how to proceed will be greatly appreciated.

The laptop that I have is this: Sony eSupport - VPCEH14FM - Support

And the hard drive that I purchased is :
Samsung HN-M101MBB 1TB 5400rpm SATA 2.5 inch Internal Hard Drive: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

I hope I have provided all of the necessary information, if I have missed anything I apologise for that.

Regards,

Hello espc.

The BSOD is apparently caused by Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 6150 driver.
Code:

Update it from Intel Download Center. You may search for the updates in Sony's site, too.

At the same time, the display driver is also failing here.

Update the Intel HD Graphics Driver, either from our forum link, http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-...-graphics-driver-windows-7-a.html#post2166304, or You may get it from Intel Download Center.
Moreover, you may run the Intel (R) Driver Update Utility to auto detect the appropriate driver for your computer.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :

  • Double click to open it.
  • Click this button only:
  • 2012-12-13_224441.jpg
  • If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.
Free up the startup. Dont worry, it will not loss any functionality. Windows does not need any other programs to be auto started with it and run in the background; rather they often conflicts and causes issues.

  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
  3. Select the “Startup” tab.
  4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
  5. Apply > OK
  6. Accept then restart.
Let us know the results.

* I assume there may be some other issues, but there is not enough evidence in hand to point those out. So waiting eagerly for your response. Let us know how the system is working after applying these changes.

Thank you very much for your reply. I have been using Sony Vaio Update which showed that all of my drivers were up to date, seems that program is lagging behind quite a bit. If I encounter any further issues from this I will post a reply.

Again , thank you for your assistance with this matter.
