BSOD Win 7

I recently RMAed this motherboard because it just didn't boot up.
It took them 2 months to replace it, and 1 month into using it the system keeps rebooting/crashing.

Furthermore, once the computer crashes, it reboots, but does not post bios. Lights and fans are on but just stays there. I can only boot up to bios and windows after I unplug and leave it for around 10 minutes.

It is an Asus P5Q pro, prior to the initial RMA, it ran flawlessly for 1 and a half years.

I have attached the dmp files.

In addition, I have an additional problem.
My computer keeps detecting a 'phantom' USB device. There is nothing plugged into that USB slot and it lists it under device manager as 'unknown USB device'.

If i plug in a USB device into that port, it won't work. No lights on mouse, no indicator lights on flash drives.

I uninstalled/deleted it multiple times only to have it return. Even did it in safe mode.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I forgot to add in that I have done windows memcheck and it went through without detecting any errors.

I've never been too great with dumb files unfortunately, but the phantom USB device is something that can be caused be not having a driver, or having an incorrect driver installed. I can say that your dumb files look similar to one I got when I had a 32 bit memory card reader driver installed on my 64 bit computer (64 bit driver was needed). I also had a base system device appear in DM until I got the right driver. I hope this helps point you in the right direction.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

But how do I get rid of it?
I ran memtest86, and after 7 passes I only got 2 errors.

I am running the 5 DMP's now but if you have even1 ram error there is a problem. You might want to try the mobo slots individually with a known good ram stick

Can the crashes be due to the USB? Because now with just a mouse, it is running okay.
But I still see an 'unknown device' in the USB root, the mouse is listed as the next USB device as 'composite device'. I have nothing else attached, and have already disabled the front USB connectors from the mobo.

You have at least three different causes of these five dmps. They do seem to point to hardware so USB may be partially the problem. They also seem to point to partmgr.sys, cng.sys. Both are part of win 7 so I would alos run a system file check
(tyep cmd in search>right clicka nd run as admin>SFC /SCANNOW)

Let us know the results

If you still are getting BSOD's we can get more agressive with the problem.

Hi zigzag,

I already ran the scannow just after I posted the dmp files.

It is as attached.

Without plugging in any USB devices, my computer has been running for 3 hours.

Also, after the scan was done, inside cmd there was a line that said there were some errors that could not be fixed.

If it helps, I ran scannow again, and the log file is inside the cbs - newer zip, not sure if it helps.

I'm trying to install a fresh copy of windows, but I get BSOD when it's trying to determine my hardware.
